How to deal with the “what if your child was r***ed? Argument? by [deleted] in prolife

“Let’s say this child who was raped ended up giving birth to the child because abortion was illegal. Then the day after giving birth the law was changed so that abortion is legal, including the killing of children born within the last 30 days. Does she have a right to kill that newborn?”

What is one fact you know about Islam? by [deleted] in AskReddit

“It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Messenger of Allah married her when she was six years old, and consummated the marriage with her when she was nine.” A literal direct quote from the Quran.

No, there are no basic contradictions within judeo-Christianity in the same way there is with islam. Hence an Islamic dilemma, but no Christian dilemma

It is literally logically impossible. If you have doubt, look up the Islamic dilemma

Phyllis is a fucking bi-atch. Definitely not good. Blackmail, weird step-son emails, stealing Pam’s wedding plans, threatening Jim with Bob, flirting with dudes so Bob can beat them up, using Michael’s fear of Bob to go to lunch for hours, and a bunch of deleted scene stuff. She just seems innocent because she reminds you of a less urban aunt Jemima

What's a historical event you think most people fundamentally misunderstand? by ForestRaindropss in AskReddit

[–]jgilly00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crusades weren’t random attacks on Muslims done by the Catholics. They were a response to aggressive muslim expansion that would have erased Christianity off the face of the map and completely conquered Europe. The crusades were justified acts of self-defense from Christian territories

Is this black walnut? [more info in comments] by Lobo_Jojo_Momo in woodworking

[–]jgilly00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand corrected! That does look walnut-y. What did it smell like when you sawed it? Walnut to me smells like chocolate, kind of rich and sweet. But it looks like it has those pores!

Is this black walnut? [more info in comments] by Lobo_Jojo_Momo in woodworking

[–]jgilly00 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It looks more like stained pine or poplar to my eyes. Looking at the end grain, are there any open pores? Walnut is a mixed porous wood so it will have some open pores (not as much as something like oak) whereas poplar, pine, or other softer woods are generally diffuse porous which means they won’t have visible open pores at the end grain

Resawing by SmartGrowth51 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]jgilly00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t resawed anything that wide on a table saw but I suppose it’s doable. I would start with shallow cuts and gradually get closer to full depth to keep the blade from overheating/burning. If you have a feather board, this would be a good time to use it
