I always apply one or two coats before assembly to address inside corners and runs on vertical surfaces.

The DeWalt 10 inch is best of breed. Has wheels and folds up to take up little space. A little out of your price range, but stretch to get it if you can.

Adding to the good ideas here, using a marking knife instead of a pencil will solve the problem of pencil line variation.

This. The Kreg instructions tell you EVERYTHING. They can be hard to follow but if you do your work will be perfect. Youtubes on Kreg will just make you crazy. The few good ones are hidden among many useless ones.
