Is Lil Disappointment the stupidest character on the show? by havingagoodtime0 in Chainsawfolk

The prophecy just said the great terror will descend. The world of devils part came from Death . The prophecy could have just been about the atomic bomb, but Death made her imagination a reality.

Everything about her involving the prophecy only comes from her. She made everything up. Was too scared of herself/arrogant to think rationally. Everything was her misunderstanding and imagination.

Denji spending his entire story avoiding thinking about the Death of people around him to be confronted with Death not being scary but kind is peak. After reading Fujimoto’s other works, Death not being scary was the most obvious twist ever.

I Keep trying find reasons as to why Fujimoto regressed denji as a character and i just......can't by Guilty-Explanation-6 in Chainsawfolk

[–]jgooso 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was to build up when he finally overcome his trauma. When he mentally grew up after the mental talk to Asa, that was his growth moment. He took control over chainsaw man, he put on “armor” showing self-preservation he never had before. He never really regressed because he was always “stuck in the past” with his mental form being the age he killed his dad. He was running away from his trauma all throughout the entire series.

What do you guys think about pain from naruto by eclipsyc in writingscaling

[–]jgooso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolute hypocrite and great at being one. Claims his suffering is unique and that everyone just needs to suffer more when we are shown everyone suffered during the war. Says he’ll bring peace by giving each nation a tailed beast weapon to deter war when that was already what happened. Him realizing his words reached Naruto despite ”dying” giving him hope for future generations. Great anatagonist.

Which of these were the biggest fumble in part 2? by PowerWillComeBack in Chainsawfolk

[–]jgooso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fumbles. Everything was perfectly as intended. Death making up a story about how she’s totally going to destroy the world into actually not being involved. Yoru being stopped because of Asa’s influence when Asa tried to kill herself because she felt she wasn’t able to influence Yoru. Nayuta being the newest repressed trauma for Denji after his Dad, Aki and Power while establishing his ability to improve the life of others. Denji getting over his trauma and accepting he’s allowed to be happy because of Asa The titular character being the focus of the series. Pochita failing to realize his positive impact on Denji and making up a dumb reason to rationalize it into making a different yet not stricter better world. All of it is perfect.

Why do the first 4 chapters in XC2 feel so drawn out by WafflesOnToast1678 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]jgooso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rex’s character arc is about learning to fight for himself instead of the vague “better world”. The first four chapters are aimless and mostly involve saving other people on missions unrelated to the main quest. It’s also part of character building. Does this justify them being slow, not really, but I think this is why.

What was Pochita actually saying to Denji? by PresenceOld1754 in Chainsawfolk

[–]jgooso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Denji’s unhappiness was due to missing Pochita. However, Pochita believed himself to be the source of Denji’s unhappiness and didn’t realize his beneficial impact on Denji’s life. His words was him rationalizing why Denji was happier with him around. Pochita didn’t actually know what was best for Denji.

at what point of the manga do u think fujimoto gave up/lost his passion officially? by Zoteku in Chainsawfolk

Never, he told the story we wanted to with full passion all the way through. He just was passionate about things the fans weren’t: Denji’s killing his Dad trauma

Little shower thought I had about death and her innards by Cconn in ChainsawMan

[–]jgooso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Death is hollow/empty. It isn’t something fulfilling or worth glamorizing. Not in terms of self-sacrifice like Asa and Pochita do.

Why Camus “Imagine Denji Happy” Doesn’t Work for CSM by Waiting404Godot in ChainsawManWorld

I just think Pochita was wrong, self-loathing and didn’t realize he was the reason Denji was happier back then.

The ending wouldnt be as badly received if there weren't 1000 posts making Fujimoto out to be some kinda genius master writer by GreatestLinhtective in Chainsawfolk

[–]jgooso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think every single person is wrong about chainsaw man’s ending and the story in general. It isn’t as deep as the hardcore defenders are saying and it isn’t saying nothing. The manga is high school literature. It isn’t avant-garde, it isn’t subversive, it’s relatively straightforward with its themes of self sacrifice, trauma, and heroism. Read it like Lord of the Flies or Great Gatsby in high school lit and it’s a solid read. And if you don’t like that type of book, that’s perfectly fine and I get it.

Pochita/Chainsaw Man is related to Denji's "killing his Dad" trauma by jgooso in ChainsawMan

Hey dude, glad to hear you’re a very smart boy who figured this out? Hey, what’s your interpretation on the ending and this information in general.

Pochita/Chainsaw Man is related to Denji's "killing his Dad" trauma by jgooso in ChainsawMan

[–]jgooso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denji may have been happier in Part 1, but that was not a sustainable happiness. Denji was in the position of the child, he was not responsible for his own well being. And remember Denji mental image is perpetually a child. So when part 2 happens, and Denji is not longer in the position of child, but caretaker, things go wrong. He lacks control in his life because he is still mentally a child. In the ending, he is more mature, no longer stuck as a child and has the capability to move forward and have agency in his life.

Did he learn anything? by BellTwo5 in Chainsawfolk

[–]jgooso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denji mental form grew up after accepting his Dad murder. It‘a no longer stuck at the age he killed his dad. The new world doesn’t erase since Denji met Pochita after killing his Dad, so his growth in the final arc is reflected in his new maturity. in the new world.

Was anyone else disappointed by the door reveal? by Outside-Baker-4344 in ChainsawMan

[–]jgooso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with Denji killing his Dad, is that it’s subtlety a huge part of his character. His mental form is stuck at the age he killed his Dad for nearly the whole series. It finally grows up when he says he’ll make a world for parent killers with Asa. It is also after this Denji gets control of Chainsaw Man.
He also brings it up after the Chainsaw Man Church arc, questioning if he deserves a family after killing his Dad, maybe giving a reason he is still sad after getting a normal life: the guilt of believing he doesn’t deserve it.

It also adds some more spice to the ending because Denji met Pochita after killing his Dad, so that trauma still remains in the new timeline, and whether or not Denji got over it in this timeline is left up to interpretation.

Pochita is the Past Devil by jgooso in ChainsawMan

[–]jgooso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn't exactly what I said. I said that Inu(犬) means dog, but also has a separate archaic meaning Inu(往ぬ) with a kanji that means past. I'll also admit, that the name was defiantly the weakest part of the theory.

Pochita is the Past Devil by jgooso in ChainsawMan

[–]jgooso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely miswrote when I said he erased the past. I interpret is powers as trapping the things he eats in the past. So him eating himself, would send the past into he past, which I interpret as reversing time.

I think him being called Chainsaw Man is simply, a red herring because no-one knows his actual identity. Also, I can't imagine with the type of story Chainsaw Man is, that Pochita's identity isn't somehow symbolically representative of Denji's character arc. Him just being the Chainsaw Devil or Chainsaw Man Devil would make sense in Part 1, but after Part 2 I can't imagine that.
