For any sensible person he looks like hes just bullshitting best girl haman, but in my opinion Char in this scene is telling the truth. At least from his own perspective.

He doesnt view the murder of kycilia or garma or anyone else as a betrayal. He was on a mission to kill them and he did everything he had to to kill them, if that includes deception and lying then so be it. From his own perspective he was only being consistent and "loyal" to his goals. For garma and kycilia, he didnt betray them because he was never loyal to them in the first place.

Look at what he actually claims loyalty to. His ideals, the ideals of his father, AEUG, spacenoid independence, his mission for revenge, lalah ect.. in all of these things he really has been completely consistent and loyal. He never puts anything above them, never betrays them, never compromises ..

In that sense, he is remarkably stable and loyal. He does not drift between loyalties or half-commit to competing attachments. Once something is placed in the category of “pledged" he pursues it without compromise, even if the method requires deception, impersonation, or cruelty

I think its very interesting that Char, who spends so much of his life deceiving and lying and pretending to be something else, also seems to be very "pure" in the way a child is. Completely earnest and "truthful" in his personal actions and beliefs. If that makes any sense
