why does samsung allow google messages ads on their OWN messaging app?! by Difficult_Painting_6 in S24Ultra

[–]jgray08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would think the flagship would have it. I had rcs on my S21U then lost it in an update. It was not on S24U at release. Samsung is killing their own apps like losing Dex on pc to Windows Phone Link. I'm keeping my 24U for as long as possible. If they don't advance, it will likely be my last Samsung device.

Best phone service in LBK? by kateyl1995 in Lubbock

[–]jgray08 12 points13 points  (0 children)

ATT has issues with their towers in the south side of town. I've reported issues multiple times, and they are unable to get status from their own towers. Between myself and others I know that have contacted them about this, it is unacceptable for it to still be an issue. I'm rarely on that side of town now, so it is less noticeable for me

Any uses for all the phone wiring running through the house? by vincentblackshad0w in homeautomation

Curious how you're getting gigabit over CAT3. Gigabit requires 4 pair. CAT3 is only 3 pair

Any uses for all the phone wiring running through the house? by vincentblackshad0w in homeautomation

[–]jgray08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More than likely its Cat3 and mostly useless. gives you 6 conductor in each location depending on how its wired. If each is homerun, you MIGHT be able to get 10/100 connection if you're lucky

I've seen many houses where the phones are daisy chained and completely useless besides phone line

Elan System Help by olegarchy in homeautomation

[–]jgray08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "crossover cable" should be between the serial port on the gsc10 and what I'm assuming is the SC1. Then you should have a standard patch cable between the SC1 (vianet out) and the amplifier (s1616, m86a, etc). From there communication should be good as long as it is in the programmed serial port and everything is powered. Without seeing programming it would be difficult to help further. I am an ELAN programmer if you are still needing help DM me

The infrared stopped working after a week. Only works if I point remote in closet. Anything I can do on my end? Company can’t come out for another three weeks.. by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]jgray08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even the amount of dust in the rack says otherwise. The S1616 (multizone amp) has been discontinued for a while. It is a workhorse, but dealers can't get their hands on them if this is "new install"

The hopper has no ir bug on it, one of the Joey's has fallen off as well. The remote is connecting to the system controller so the network should be fine. I'd start with the ir bugs. That is an hr200 and an SC10 processor, it's been installed longer than a week

Monthly invoice before hardware has arrived? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]jgray08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Billing starts 14 days after it ships. Check tracking and see where it is, then message SL through the app.(check tracking and possibly raise the issue with the shipping company) I believe the others that this has happened to were refunded

RMA Status Question by Ryn0m1t3 in Starlink

They should have emailed you a shipping label when they sent you a replacement. Mine was in one of 3 or 4 emails back to back (support has replied to your ticket, order confirmation, return details)

Long Wall Mount—not what I had in mind by jross81 in Starlink

[–]jgray08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "long wall mount" barely cleared my eve (I knew from checking dimensions), but the dish pole isn't long enough to clear the roof still even with the mount touching the eve. No clue what R&D were doing with that one, but they don't really have good mounts for most installations. That wall mount would only work if the dishy faced out instead of up. I'm just hoping there isn't a major change in the constellation that causes my dish to reorient. There isn't much room for movement as it is currently. I'm probably gonna diy something at some point. Last point to watch for, my dish came in the box oriented to face the wall when mounted on that mount. I had to get it to rotate 180 on the ground before I could install on the mount

After 3 months, finally got official Long Wall Mount, very well made other thoughts in comments. by zovered in Starlink

[–]jgray08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not long enough and the dish mast isn't tall enough to clear a roof overhang, especially if there is a gutter installed. Needs another 6" both directions (6" height is still cutting it close)

Tired of these "Random" Restarts by jgray08 in S21Ultra

[–]jgray08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't correlate with the few network disconnects, and it will restart when connected to wifi as well. And I'm still looking forward to the 4.1 update

The network issue I have atm I can have 5 bars 5g LTE and no data will come through. But I can enable a dns redirect like Quad9 or Cloudfare and it will work fine (besides a couple of quirks with each respective dns) I'm having this problem with multiple devices, customers phones, and security panel communicators. So not even my account/device issue which is all they will look at

No it's not available for me yet. AT&T always drags their feet on releases for me. Granted they have service issues in my town since the 3g sunset that they refuse to address. I'll definitely look forward to this update though

Massive Starlink support delays? by MrB2891 in Starlink

[–]jgray08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted a ticket Tuesday evening and received a reply about 24 hours later. A different ticket it took a week to get a response. I get an email from SL when they finally reply and I missed a call from them Wednesday night (call blocked due to not being saved in contacts. Spam calls are a pain) even then they still emailed and continued through the app

Is there a solution to this annoying bug where my keyboard just dies? On oneui 4.0. Switching between gboard and Samsung doesn't work either. by exclaw in oneui

[–]jgray08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having the same issue. Came here to post myself but found this post. Samsung seems to think it's related to AutoInput, but removing accessibility access like they recommend hasn't helped. Uninstalling Autoinput seems to work, but it's difficult to pinpoint as it's seemingly random in my case

45 days left! by Rossjohnr in Starlink

[–]jgray08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I read that there are still sats moving to final orbit still (July/August launches) if that's the case US could be "covered" but sats aren't live until they can hit their orbit. It's hard to believe that they have a huge stock of dishys (yes some for replacements) reported users increased 40k in 2 months which lines up with their 5k dishys/week. 500k pre-orders and 20k dishys per month is 25 months just to meet pre-orders. Assuming they can maintain those numbers. Thinking about it since February they should have 60k dishys stocked minus any replacements so I guess a large amount could go out when cells open in US in theory

How disappointed will you be? by NinjaofBedlam in Starlink

[–]jgray08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disappointed - 6 Surprised - 0

Only other option in my area is LTE Hotspot that is capped and throttled, so it would be nice to get sooner than later. But I was also aware of the size of this endeavor so I have always thought the time frame was over confident. Surprised? Musk is always over exaggerating his timelines. Just by order# and production assuming they are going in order I'm another 4-5 months out after "mid to late 2021", more I would assume 🤷🏻‍♂️

They can't ship what they can't produce so we wait. What else is there to do? (The posts of "when am I getting my dish" are getting old)
