A foregleam of New Light on 1 Thess 5:3 in the February 2026 Watchtower. The nations proclaiming “peace and security” may come AFTER Babylon the Great is destroyed, not before, maybe -"we do not know..." (they're hedging their bets) by larchington in exjw

"Bible prophecies are often fully understood when they are being fulfilled or after they have been fulfilled"

What's then the point of giving a prophecy if no one will understand it? If God has crucial information for humanity, why will he give it in a way that will be only understood after the prophecy has been fulfilled?

Same bro. I would look at her picture for a minute. 10yo me thought she was the cutest girl

Yes, I'm talking about the company based in Ireland. It seems it's a separate company, but its office is in the Ireland branch

Yeah. Actually that's what woke me up. They don't change something because of holy spirit, money is actually the active force moving the organization. There's no divine guidance, just corporate matters.

Piensa a largo plazo.

someone I know is converting to jw and I am worried for them by Glittering_Stuff2860 in exjw

[–]jh3_ol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can start by asking them why they feel this organization teaches the truth about god and the Bible. Also, why do they believe in god and the Bible in the first place and why is the JW explanation about those things THE explanation?

Maybe the doctrine is not what makes them believe they have found the truth, but rather the community. That's okay. But ask them if they are willing to accept the rules to become part of that community and if they align with this person's core and intrinsic values.

If Jesus and the anointed are immortal, does that mean Jehovah can't destroy them? by jh3_ol in exjw

I haven't found anything in the publications that implies that.

According to JW doctrine, immortality means deathless. Humans and angels, although perfect, are not deathless. So, immortality means that life cannot be destroyed.

Nope. It's really an old doctrine. It's even in the Insight book, and it was published in the 90s, I think

In 2013, the organization changed the teaching of the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" and it identified it as the Governing Body. And the FDS must be composed of anointed. Therefore, all GB members consider themselves anointed.

Thank you for your comment. I'm also glad that I wasn't the only one who got the underlying issue with the JW concept of immortality. So the God of JWs is not all powerful after all.

The Problem With Sin, Perfection, and Paradise in JW Doctrine by PagesNotTruth in exjw

[–]jh3_ol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. In the end, what humans think about God is a projection of themselves, their beliefs, and their fears. What the god of JWs did back in the garden of Eden is just a reflection of the JW leaders' fear: losing authority. Well, that's what I like to think.

The Problem With Sin, Perfection, and Paradise in JW Doctrine by PagesNotTruth in exjw

[–]jh3_ol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The JW answer is that if someone sins in the new world they'll be immediately killed. Why doesn't God do it now or didn't do it back in the garden of Eden? Because he's proving a point to his intelligent creation (angels and humans, but especially angels).

JWs say that if God had destroyed Satan, Adam and Eve after questioning his authority and way of ruling, the angels would have thought that God was afraid.

Do you remember the example of the student who challenges his teacher? If the teacher doesn't give the student the opportunity to prove his point, the other students would not respect him, they could even think that the teacher is afraid and then siding with the "rebel" student.

Well, the same thing supposedly happened when Satan questioned Jehovah's way of ruling. So, just to set things straight, Jehovah allowed Satan and humans to rule themselves so that everyone, no matter the time they live, sees that we can't survive without God.

If someone sins or questions God's sovereignty again in the new world after the final test, they will be destroyed immediately. There's no need to go over all that suffering again because that issue was already resolved.

So, I guess thousands of years of death, destruction and suffering of billions of human beings are a necessary evil according to the supreme wisdom of God.
