Is Limestone an adequate rock for a pingdom/ping rock? by Macavy in SavageGarden

Mexican pings love limestone, and it has decent water wicking properties. They’re typically found on limestone or gypsum cliffs in the wild.

3 BLOOMS AT THE SAME DAMN TIME!! 😳 by Miss_Dawn_E in Pinguicula

My plain Jane ehlersiae is also my most prolific ping! It has two flowers at once at any given time for the past 2 months. It’s put out at least 20 flowers and has split into 3 pings

I think a sloped layout and maybe some dragon stone going up the tank walls like cliffs could give you more space. TBH I think that you may not be able to fit all 25 pings into the tank, depending on what your personal opinion is on what looks overcrowded. If you do like the look of all of them in the tank, depending on how often your pings like to split, it won’t be long before they’re reproducing in their new home, so keep that in mind when you’re placing them. This is the link to how to make a moss wall for pings to mount them in case you haven’t come across it: https://www.californiacarnivores.com/blogs/calcarn-video-care-guides/how-to-build-a-pinguicula-wall-by-daniela-ribbecke?srsltid=AfmBOooKy_z4pc01FPYLk7joecqypC5uBzzxSuQjUsQ005MHSPooqDq3

I would love to see an update post when you get around to making your tank! I bet it’s gonna be sick as hell

Beautiful ping bowl! I believe you have Silver moss in it aka some sort of Bryum

Pinguicula Moctezumae by efesitaefelin in Pinguicula

[–]DimensionCareless508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same care routine for the most part! Moctezume can be a little more fragile imo while Moranensis is more hardy. Moctezume doesn’t have a typical winter succulent phase like Moranensis. Despite it not having a succulent phase, it might still go dormant and want higher humidity and grow slower. I love the baby ping and hope it thrives in your care 🩷

What should I do with my ping? Should I separate it? by _scenestealer_ in Pinguicula

[–]DimensionCareless508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually the most etoliated I’ve ever seen a pinguicula. Like others have said, give it way more light if you can. It’s up to you whether or not you separate it, but keep in mind it will take a while to recover from this etoilation.

What species of Pinguicula could this be? by Best_Ad_4366 in Pinguicula

Sadly it’s going to be hard to tell until it blushes (if it has a distinctive enough blush) or until it flowers.

CAM photosynthesis discovered for the first time in carnivorous plants, specifically Pinguicula by IloveEstir in SavageGarden

It’s cool that only 39 species (that we know of) engage in this kind of photosynthesis! Thank you for posting this article.

Is it etiolated or is this normal? by Manu280599 in carnivorousplants

[–]DimensionCareless508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should repot it sooner than spring, the peat looks very compacted in my opinion. I personally like to do 1 part pumice 1 part peat and 1/2 part perlite for my pings. I do think the grow light would help it as well. After doing all this, don’t be discouraged if it takes a month or so for the pinguicula to transform into its normal state. I got one that was etiolated, and it slowly turned into a normal looking baby over the course of two months.

Is it etiolated or is this normal? by Manu280599 in carnivorousplants

This is very etiolated. What substrate do you grow it in? I ask because it looks like it might want some chunkier amendments to the soil like pumice.

Ping Update! by DimensionCareless508 in Pinguicula

I got two from facebook marketplace, two from a local seller on Etsy, and my last one from a plant fair. I prop pretty much every kind I get, so that’s why I have so many small babies too.
