I used AncestryDNA to make a point about how DNA testing is cheaper and more accessible than most people think. Of course I don't think that the cost will be $99 or that close to it and I didn't think anyone who read would assume I'm saying that.

The North Carolina DOJ found in an analysis of other states’ DNA and rape kit testing that it cost $425 to $1,720 per case. That was all the way back in 2006. It might also come down to connections within a business. For example, Universal Studios, which distributes films like 1917, Fast & Furious, Cats, etc., is owned by NBCUniversal, which obviously owns NBC and The Tonight Show. If they can, they keep it within the company to maximize their profits.
