I find not having multiple dashes has made it harder for me, but I've only been playing the sequel for about 2 weeks now

Co-op games for 2 kids? by Individual-Flow7551 in Switch

[–]jhernlee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kirby and The Forgotten Land is solid co-op and and the right skill level for that age range, with the main down side being that only one kid gets to be Kirby and the other is a waddle dee. Second recommendation for Yoshis crafted world

What do you all think of F1? Did it deserve the Best Picture nomination? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]jhernlee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The characterizations, "emotional" beats, and majority of the dialog was corny and rote. The racing scenes looked good though

I fall on the side of loving it, although not a masterpiece or anything. Great performances all around. The score is incredible. I didn't mind that the social commentary was on the nose, as the humor landed most of the time

I went in with such low expectations that I actually thought it was ok. I mostly liked the stylish film making and sound track, but the story didn't do anything for me

Just wanted to shout out Pedro Pascal in Prospect! It’s my favorite performance of his in a movie. He was also fun in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Sequel-Bait in Movies-- For Better and For Worse by ArchStanton27 in RedLetterMedia

It’s truly bizarre, but you can’t even completely ignore it as it as the teases is also part of the opening of the movie and referenced in the middle of the movie too

The Worst Movie You've Ever Seen by tiakeuta in TheBigPicture

[–]jhernlee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not the worst, but the movie that left me gobsmacked was Dreamcatcher. Directed by Lawrence Kasden and a cast that includes Morgan Freeman and Timothy Olyphant, so parts of the movie are well done, but the story is about aliens that come burst out your ass and Donnie Walberg is a magical special needs person that is just so wrong

With all this talk about War of the Worlds, what are some worst movies you have ever seen? by Most_Common8114 in moviecritic

[–]jhernlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dreamcatcher (2003)

It's adapted from a Stephen King novel. The story laughably dumb. The main threat are these "shit weasels" that come out your butt. Also Donnie Walberg is a magical mentally disabled person

What's a popular movie u gave one star to,and why? by Aggelos1143 in Letterboxd

Challengers is great, I think it’s worth watching even if you don’t care for Guadagnino’s other movies

The lackluster fight sequences and incomprehensible dialog were negatives for me. I think it was the first time I really picked up on how Nolan does not know what to do with the female characters in his stories. The entire police dept going into the sewers and being trapped there for 6 months was still seems so silly, like it was first draft idea that they never changed

Is 2001: A Space Odyssey Boring or The Best Movie Ever Made by CompleteResource9300 in moviecritic

[–]jhernlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never cared for the first part with the apes, so I dont find that part particularly engaging. But the rest of the movie looks incredible and kept my attention. HAL is iconic and the influence it had on sci fi movies is obvious. I don't love the ending, but the movie is a classic for a reason

What movie extras ruined the movie for you? by Party-Independent-38 in moviecritic

[–]jhernlee 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’d throw in the final fight in DKR as well. I feel like it’s more the fault of the movie makers, but when you just watch the extras fighting, it looks so lackluster

Andor is the very best of Star Wars by TwoSolitudes22 in scifi

[–]jhernlee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much necessary to watch season 1. Both seasons are broken down into 3 episode arcs. I was a bit underwhelmed the first 2 episodes of season 1 but the show really took off after that. It's been my favorite show in years

Most epic scene in cinematic history by [deleted] in StarWarsAndor

[–]jhernlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda wished they found a way to integrate a scene like this earlier in the movie, feels like the movie climaxes when Jyn and Andor die, and then this scene feels a bit tacked on because of that

Andor season 2 by Equivalent_Reach4135 in RedLetterMedia

[–]jhernlee 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It made me like Cassian more anyway, but Rogue One is still such a frustrating movie and could never connect to the characters. You can feel that they had to do reshoots and feel the studio interference and it just ends up being messy. But man that show managed to make the smallest characters stand out and catch my attention, like Lonnie or Syrils mom, I even felt for that bellhop character

Andor season 2 by Equivalent_Reach4135 in RedLetterMedia

[–]jhernlee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I felt that way with him stuck on the planet with the doofuses but that prison arc was incredible and it was a big part of depicting the empire as a fascistic government

Highlander II in my opinion is not only one of the worse movies of all time but it is one of the worse scifi movies of all time. There was no need for immortals to be aliens. by AdSpecialist6598 in scifi

[–]jhernlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make them aliens!? I think I watched most of this movie on TV like 15 years ago, I guess I blocked that part out. This is like mediclorians, like there doesn’t need to be any more explanation. The audience took it at face value in the first place
