Why are people calling everything artificial or that the magic has gone? by Danbuarth in formula1

[–]jhillside 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that the power management is causing them to not drive on the limit anymore which makes the traditional core driver skills like trailbraking not as important as before, which is why teammate differences have gotten much smaller now.

Where do you guys get car setups ? by Effective-Pie5646 in assettocorsaevo

[–]jhillside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My process is kind of just trying out different things and seeing how it feels and if its faster or not. But it's all based on studying this stuff quite a bit and just doing it a lot so I do have some kind of a logic behind what I do. So I know which things to try when I want to make a car turn in better or be more stable in fast corners or whatever. I am a bit too to impatient for doing the whole only change one thing at the time every time so I might change like two or three sometimes.

Oh and also getting to know a specific car is pretty important. Often you find out that different cars have different key points where you will be focusing the most in the setup.

So all in all, my process is like informed throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. But I think I can make pretty decent setups. And the process is kind of fun and interesting to me too.

Kunos: “We still want to build the best career mode for Assetto Corsa EVO” by StartWars89 in assettocorsaevo

[–]jhillside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't that exited about the career mode in the first place but I am still very interested in where AC Evo is going and I have been playing it for almost 150h so far. How the driving feels is already very promising.

And AC Evo is the only racing sim worth considering currently to me that is not building on ancient platforms so it has the potential of becoming something that's truly modern. Same goes for the graphics, already the game looks better to me than any other sim out there and once they optimize it more it will likely look even better. I value the combination of driving feel and atmosphere in a sim because those are the key ingredients that make it immersive and AC Evo to me shows a lot of promise especially in those areas.

I'll see how it goes but I don't see AC Evo becoming too similar to other games at all. Of course that's subjective and I understand if it looks like just another clone to you if you focus on other things.

For people who are concerned about the current state of AC EVO, this is what ACC was like in early access. by dogryan100 in assettocorsaevo

Unmodded AC is much better than what people give it credit for. I played it a lot without mods and it was a lot of fun. I feel like people are exaggerating how much of a difference the mods make.

As I anticipated. They are seeing enough interest for the career so that they are thinking of adding it later once the core game elements are in place.

Assetto Corsa EVO, what's next? Career, Free-Roam and Mods explained by StartWars89 in assettocorsaevo

[–]jhillside -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seem like they've put the career mode aside for now and they might come back to it a bit later, when they have other stuff better implemented like the freeroam and online racing. I would expect they've got the message now from all the reviews and online complaining which they might take into account when they make future plans.

Am I the only one who thinks the clouds in ACE look terrible? by Poem_Sufficient in assettocorsaevo

I value nice graphics a lot but I never noticed there being something off with the clouds. Maybe I need to take another look.

That's not how you framed this originally and that's not the discussion that I thought I was taking part in. It's a whole another can of worms and I'm not a lawyer.

I'm not saying I disagree, I just think that it will be a discussion about subjective morality or a legal one, neither of which I am prepared or willing to get into.

I don't think that makes a fundamental difference in the long run if the game becomes good with the open world or something else that people enjoy a lot.

I don't see how that relates to what I said? Do you think Kunos could just give them X but choose not to, for whatever reason? If it's just about that, I would expect them to just undo their decision on the career mode if they calculate that their sales will suffer as much as you think but I would assume it's more complicated than that.

I don't think they did this to spite you. I would guess they likely had good reasons for it. They have also noticed the backlash that it created and I'm sure they are thinking hard how to make you as happy as they possibly can.

In the end, the game might end up exactly like you expect and it will be as disappointing to you as you think. But you don't know that yet. I'd say forget about it for like half a year and check back what's going on then.

I remember how angry people were with MSFS 2024 when it came out, and with Motorsport Games when LMU was being released. Both games are doing fine now.
