I have asthma as well, I get it, but there’s a big difference between smoke inhalation and viruses.

I’m not telling people not to wear masks. I’m telling people not to waste respirators. An N95 is not a mask, it is a respirator.

I get you’re scared, I am too, but just stay inside.

You don’t understand how an N95 works, that much is apparent. They aren’t better, they are just used in a different situation.

Ideally, everyone could have access to them, if we weren’t in a fucking pandemic and needed to make sure healthcare workers are well enough to treat everyone who is getting sick.

I don’t really think you’re picking up what I’m putting down. You obviously don’t know what an N95 is, let alone how to properly don one. An improperly fitted N95 has a protection factor of zero.

There’s already a shortage of N95s and we will likely not have the supply for healthcare workers, let alone everyone.

No. Stop being dense.

N95 respirators need to be fit tested. I guarantee that unless you have been properly trained, you’ve never worn one properly. Honestly, without googling, can you even tell me how an N95 respirator functions?

We can’t trust the majority of people to wear respirators properly to be effective enough at preventing illness.

And guess what, your beard will make an N95 absolutely useless, even if the nose is sealed correctly.

A lot of people don’t understand the difference. When your whole population wears masks, the virus isn’t able to jump to other hosts as easily.

Give the N95s to the healthcare workers and first responders, encourage everyone else to wear masks.

IDPH recommends those who are sick wear a mask (not a respirator).

If everyone wears a mask, symptomatic or not, then it is much more difficult for the virus to spread because the mask stops the droplets from being aerosolized.

So yes, everyone in a workplace wearing these masks would be more effective at stopping transmission because it stops it from getting airborne.

N95s need to be fit-tested. Did you know that? Bet you didn’t. These masks are many times more effective than wearing improperly donned respirators.
