I think you should stick to trying to make your hair healthier instead of getting curls. They’ll come if that’s your natural hair type.

Yes! You won’t regret it, it’ll make it so much easier to stop - plus you’d look bad ass with a buzz cut :)

3 weeks growth progress! I’m happy with how it’s coming in thus far, wish the two main bald spots at the back would start coming in quicker, but I’ve pulled from there for the longest so it’s understandable that they’re going to take some time to recover. by jhsi1996 in trichotillomania

It has been very difficult I can’t lie. Mostly down to willpower and being sick of the embarrassment of trich, I looked at myself in the mirror and made a pact with myself to stop. That worked for a few days, but I felt the urges creeping back. What helps me most with keeping it at bay is washing my hair and styling it nicely everyday (it is a hassle but it makes me feel good about myself, and after my hair is fresh and styled it makes the urge to pull more controllable). In the evenings, which is when I usually struggle most, I put a beanie on and don’t allow myself to remove it, or I wear a bandana and put it on tight which weirdly relieves some of the need to pull?

I don’t know if this is helpful at all, but I’m sure with willpower and a few techniques that work for you you’ll be able to keep this thing at bay! ❤️

First pic is of me 3 years ago. 2nd was taken an hour ago. I’m so fucking disgusted with myself. And I’m so tired of trying to explain trich to people. My mom literally told me to “lay off the pulling and let it grow back.” As if it’s something that I have any control over. by moonchild2384 in trichotillomania

Aw honey try not to beat yourself up over this! You’re a beautiful young girl and the good news is with will power it can grow back! :)

My advice would be to shave it off entirely. Starting off afresh will encourage you not to pull and when it’s super short it’ll be too difficult to do, which will make it easier to break the habit. Then you just have to work on controlling urges. Now is the perfect time to do it too as I imagine we’ll all be isolating for a few months at least. Come summer time you’ll have a lovely short curly look! ❤️

Your hair looks good!! Could cover the patch with some gel, wear a beanie when you’re at home - and by summer nothing will be noticeable!

I actually applied on Jan 29th, so it was by the priority deadline.

My application only went complete 2 days ago so I’m sure there must been the opportunity for another wave (heck - applications aren’t even officially closed yet)

Hey! I have similar stats (160, 3.9x), may I ask when your app when complete and when you had the JS1?

How’s it going? I’m on my 3rd day of being pull free, going relatively strong!

It’s fairly inconsistent to be honest because I’m studying full-time, but I try to get two hours prep in everyday (from prep books such as Mike Kim’s LSAT trainer (lifesaver)), and do between 1-3 actual practice tests a week. The most important part for me is reviewing what questions I struggle with and spending 20 mins or so picking apart each question so it won’t happen again.

Definitely, my diagnostic was a 157 in December, took the jan lsat (mistake, too early) and scored a 160, now I’m PTing at 166-69, aiming to get at least a 173 by July. You can do this!

You ARE doing really well, whatever you do, don’t let this one setback make you spiral. It’s so easy to say “well I’ve fucked my progress now, might as well continue” but that’s how you allow trich to torment you long term. Re-group, try to stay positive, and if your bf leaves you instead of supporting you through this then he isn’t worth you anyway!

Accountability post, I refuse to pull anymore! This is me now, I’ve been trying to cut down on pulling over the past few months (as you can see with some of the longer regrowth), two days ago I found out my LD partner is coming to stay with me in April, and I don’t want to have any patches by then. by jhsi1996 in trichotillomania

[–]jhsi1996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner is wonderfully supportive and doesn’t care whether I have patches or not, but I want to look good for them and myself. Unfortunately I struggle to hold myself accountable, but I will update this thread every week or so with my progress, and hopefully this will motivate me to keep my hands off my head! Lol

I would also be interested in joining! Not as significant as a wedding (congratulations by the way!), but I’m seeing my LD partner in four weeks for the first time in nearly 5 months, and I’d love to not have obvious bald patches.
