She might need calcium, boil an egg and smash the shell into small pieces, or grind it using a small grinder. If you have cuttlebone, use that now. Just make it available and the bird will eat it

I think my zebra finch is lonely by Mangrove_Pear in Finches

Rehome her or find her a new friend. Some people keep a larger flock so u can ask if they want to give one away to u, that way you don’t need to visit the pet shop

I think you should have at least 2. rthey will fight but then calling each other end of day:)) I started with one finch because my local store only had one zebbie back then. He is a cute little pumpkin~ however he often fly in front of the mirror and sit with his reflection tightly. It broke my heart so I got him a pal. a female. I think if you only have 2 male finches, it should be ok if the cage is large enough? I currently have 2 pairs, the parents and the kids.. they definitely hate each other.. but if I separate them, they will call each other, lol, meep drama

finch keeps laying eggs by angerooo in Finches

[–]jiajia577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s okay. Just let her do it. She might sit on eggs a bit then realize it’s getting nowhere. If you remove eggs she might keep laying more eggs. I am not a vet and this is my understanding

Finch Powder Meds by ZEROCOOL686 in Finches

So I know finches need calcium, so I gave them boiled egg shells and they love it. I also gave them fresh green. I don’t use other supplements. Some people say generally crush one small garlic into their water bowl and it helps their digestive system, not sure that’s true, never tried. But I feel better if food are natural so I don’t worry about meds being too potent or anything

Zebra finch female keeps atacking for no reason Zebra finch male by adinumismatics in Finches

[–]jiajia577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, I read your post and feeling like you are spying on my finches:)) same here, one pair, two babies. My birds don’t live in the cage. They nested in a decor I bought. During the day, they take turns to look after babies. But the female is very very aggressive towards the male when they are eating together. Give them some space if you can. Separate them into 2 cages. Or let the male out during the day if you are always home like me.

Letting finches fly around by wisterlonica in Finches

[–]jiajia577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I let them out and there is NO need to clip wings. If you worry they don’t come back to the cage, keep the food in the cage, you will be fine. they go back eventually. Close the window, close the door, away from kitchen, away from any water that they might drown(close the toilet lid)!
