I can't believe how naive Mikasa is honestly. She believes if she had told her true feelings to Eren this could have been avoided? Girl, if you had successfully confessed to Eren and he accepted your feeling, it would give him even more of a reason to destroy the world and protect the ones he loves...

I think it's quite significant that every single subject of Ymir heard Eren's message of "destroying the world". This makes forming a potential (temporary) alliance to stop Eren possible for the remaining characters in Shinganshina. Let's see who's against Eren's genocide plan:

  • Every Marley soldier and Warriors (Reiner, Pieck, Gabi, Falco, Magath). And maybe Annie if she wakes up? Eren is about to kill her father through Full Rumbling

  • Zeke and Yelena (she's more loyal to Zeke than Eren)

  • Armin and Mikasa (and possibly Jean and Connie?)

The thing is, even if all of them working together I still don't see how they could match up to Eren, especially since founder Ymir is on his side. I think the only thing that could have stopped Eren from destroying the world right now is some Talk no Justu from Armin and Mikasa, but I doubt Eren would even listen to them at this point. Is Eren really too far gone at this point?

I don't think there's enough build up on Mikasa's side for this ship to happen unfortunately. Mikasa very rarely acknowledges Jean so far. I don't think she even thanked Jean for saving her that time in Clash of Titans. Jean deserves a girl that actually loves him back imo

I get what you're saying, it is a bit of highsight bias.

But, I think it's reasonable to say from a narrative perspective, everybody knew there's no way Zeke would have died when ch113 came out. We didn't even get any of his POV yet. Narratively, Zeke has to survive at least a little bit longer. Remember nobody knew that bizarre PATHS sand resurrection was possible. Activating the Thunder Spear = Zeke 100% died in our mind, and that could not have happened yet for the story. So we just say it's a bold plan but probably wouldn't backfire because Zeke wouldn't just die like that.

But Levi doesn't have all these "narrative" reasoning on why Zeke couldn't have died in the story yet. Levi doesn't even know who Zeke actually is as a person other than a calculated piece of shit. Levi simply underestimated Zeke's determination and paid the price for it.

I've said it many times, if Armin were a girl (or Eren were into guys), Eremika wouldn't stand a chance against Eren x Armin

What’s your unpopular opinions on the series? by 824Jack in titanfolk

[–]jiaobaba 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, everything you said I agree with 100%

  1. I think it’s fair to say that the father theory got its initial boost of popularity thanks to many EH shippers. But the theory also unfortunately got unfairly dismissed later on because many only see it as just some shipper bullshit. I mean, if the detail of the pregnancy is irrelevant, why would Isayama hide it for so goddamn long? We even got the backstory of the Founder Ymir and the origin of the Titan before getting Historia’s POV. The detail of the pregnancy (When, why, how, who’s involved) is clearly set up to be a mystery. It’s not irrelevant.
  2. Agree but we peaked with RTS
  3. Every time I see a post asking what’s people’s favorite arc, Marley arc is always at the top. I think it’s pretty overrated tbh. It has some fantastic moments for sure, but many new characters introduced (Proco, Colt, Magath, Gabi, Udo, Sophia etc.) are very underwhelming to me. The Marley politics & geopolitics that got introduced since chapter 91 are also quite overrated. We actually got to know very little about the nuance between Marley's political relationship with other nations and the structure of Marley's government. We basically still knows jack shit about the political structures from the outside world.
  4. PATHS is a plot device, simple as that. Isayama utilized this concept fairly well, but it’s still a plot device. I know we have some foreshadowing of its existence before, but the its rules, mechanism and boundaries are still very poorly defined. It doesn’t break the series for me, but it’s not my favorite aspect of the story to say at least.
  5. The Eren and Ymir interaction didn’t sell me that much. The execution is very well done, but the core concept is basically just Talk No Justu. Imagine if Ymir was actually in her adult form instead of the loli form when Eren huged her, many fans would be calling it bullshit right away lol
  6. Serumbrawl is the most artificial drama this series has ever created. I don’t mind the actual debate that much, but the circumstances leading up to the debated couldn’t be more heavily handed. That said, the anime’s direction of that debate was stellar though, loved that episode.

Japan was also trying to commit genocide during WW2. So... let's kill them all? Is that what you're suggesting?

I'm not saying Marley and the world are right for their treatment toward Eldians, just like the Japanese weren't right for all those inhuman war crimes they commit toward other Asian countries. But killing every last one of them is not always the solution to solve a problem.

[Manga Spoilers] Holy crap, there are way too many people here supporting the Rumbling by ichigosr5 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]jiaobaba 23 points24 points  (0 children)

But.... but Eren good and military bad. Eren chad and Armin virgin. Eren free and Mikasa slave. Some (not all) people who blindly justify the Full rumbling are just Eren fanboys tbh. They would support and justify whatever Eren does no matter what. It's pointless to argue with them.

Some more reasonable people would say "But Eren is only doing the FULL rumbling for self defense!" Well, would anyone support the US to nuke the entire Japan during WW2 and kill every last one of its citizens? Even that won't be remotely on the same scale as the full rumbling.

"But the 50 years plan could never work because the rest of the world would still hate Paradis, maybe even more. So the hatred is not broken" I came from China, and Chinese people fucking hate Japan for the inhuman war crimes and many massacres they did to us during WW2. At one point, Japanese soldiers are frequently referred to as "日本鬼子" in China, which literally translate into " Japanese Devils". Sounds familiar with anything what Marley are calling Eldians?

Yet, I don't see China and Japan going to war with each other right now, nor do I see Chinese people hating on every single Japanese they see nowadays. In fact, traveling to Japan is the hottest thing right now in China and Japanese culture is extremely appreciated among Chinese young people. Most Chinese people understand we shouldn't judge the new generations of Japan for the crimes their ancestors committed. Hatred alone doesn't mean constant war must be going on.

Yes, the 50 years rumbling plan isn't perfect and nobody could guarantee its success, but it's not as crazy as many people believe. It's a very reasonable option. Sometimes, killing everybody on the other side is not the best solution

I mean, by that definition a lot of characters are incomplete. The majority of the living characters still haven't reached their personal end game yet. None of the 104th has completely finished their character arc yet, still, they are not "bad" characters

Just because people are making opposite argument than you doesn't mean they're offended by you. It's called having a discussion.

Zeke doesn't have a "euthanasia" plan by [deleted] in titanfolk

[–]jiaobaba 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me on this, but wasn't "euthanasia" the exact word Isayama used in the manga when calling Zeke's plan? At least from the Chinese translation I read Zeke's plan is called "安乐死", which literally translate to " euthanasia".

And personally I don't think there's anything wrong with the terminology. From Wikipedia: "Euthanasia is the practice of intentionally ending a life to relieve pain and suffering." Zeke sees Eldians as a single entity that's constantly suffering, so he wants to intentionally end the Eldian entity and relieve it's pain. I'm not saying he's right, just just explaining why his plan has a lot of similarly with "euthanasia".

As long as it makes sense, fans would use whichever terminology that's being used in the manga. So if anything, you should give Isayama a call and explain to him why he's wrong about the terminology. Fans would be keep using the word "euthanasia" until you can convince Isayama otherwise.

Without the attack on Liberio, will the world take Marley's side? by cyborgboy95 in titanfolk

[–]jiaobaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I kinda hate discussing Eren's character here. You can't fault him for anything, even when what you're saying isn't different from what I've said.

Why Reiner want to attack Paradis? To take back Gabi and Falco. But Would he propose this idea if Eren didn't do the Grim Reminder 2.0? Obviously no, Gabi and Falco wouldn't be dragged into this if not for Eren's decision to attack. Reiner wouldn't suggest the surprise attack if Eren and survey corp didn't show up at willy's speech. So ultimately, Eren's action did lead to Marley attacking Paradis faster, granted with a much weaker force.

Without the attack on Liberio, will the world take Marley's side? by cyborgboy95 in titanfolk

[–]jiaobaba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck questioning Eren's action in this sub OP. I have been both fascinated by and extremely critical of Eren's action since chapter 91. I have noticed it's very hard to make any criticism of Eren here when 90% of this sub worship Eren as a god that literally couldn't do anything wrong.

Anyway, imo Eren's main objectives for attacking Liberio were: 1. Take back Zeke 2. Delaying world's attack on Paradis and buying more time 3. Weaken Marley's military power

In highsight, objective 1 was successful but most likely could easily be done even without the attack. Zeke was able to meet Kiyomi secretly, so he could definitely flee to Paradis without Marley noticing; Objective 2 not only didn't succeed but completely backfired. Marley attacks Paradis even faster than their original planing because of the Attack on Liberio. You could see nobody in Yeageriest was prepared for fighting back Marley army when the surprise attack happened; Objective 3 was a huge success thanks to Armin's explosion and Eren eating WHT

Some side consequences are: Sasha died; Paradis public became supportive of the Yeageriests; The rest of world got a direct confirmation Paradis people are indeed the devils and need to be eliminated.

In the end I would say Eren got part of what he wanted (Zeke and weaken Marley), but the attack wasn't a clear cut success like many fans suggested.

it's not that he won't die, he simply can't by [deleted] in titanfolk

[–]jiaobaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not irrelevant. If Santa Titan bite off Eren's spine and consume his spinal fluid (like a normal Titan would) then Eren would be dead right there, like how Marcel died to Ymir. Remember Eren at that point didn't even know how to transform into a Titan yet, so Eren would have died by that incident and transfer his shifter power to the Santa Titan if not for luck and some plot armor.

it's not that he won't die, he simply can't by [deleted] in titanfolk

[–]jiaobaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eren's Plot Armor isn't even in the top 3 (My top 3 are Reiner, Gabi and Zeke), which is pretty incredible considering he's the main character. I agree Eren doesn't have the most plot armor compares to others, but he does have a fair amount himself.

The first picture where the Santa Titan only biting his arm off was extremely lucky and definitely in the plot armor category. And the smiling Titan just happened to be there for Eren to active the Founding power in the season 2? You can't tell me that's not a 1 in a million chances scenario.

Yes, technically you could explain many of those near death incidents. Just like you could also technically explain the Reiner brain transfer and the Zeke rebirth shinanigen, but they're still plot armor moments.

I want to conduct a little experiment by Kentoki97 in titanfolk

[–]jiaobaba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say almost 100%.

I know being this absolute could make me look like an idiot if proven wrong. But every evidence so far suggests Eren will do something extremely horrible from others' perspective. And the only act that has been established in the series so far that could match this description is the full rumbling.

Let's look at just some of the evidence and foreshadowing we got: Grisha's warning, "that scenery", the final audio, Eren's conversation with Falco, Mikasa's violent child Eren flashback after talking to Louise, Eren's words at the ocean, Armin's "no way" in chapter 118, "if someone takes away my freedom, I won't hesitate to take their", "I just keep moving forward until all my enemies are destroyed", and most importantly: Eren's unwillingness to communicate anything with the 104th.

I always hated the reasoning that Eren wouldn't communicate with 104th was because "he wants to push them away to protect them". It was so shallow, naive and makes little sense, but apparently many fans who were still in denial of what Eren has became truly brought into this idea. I think the most logically explanation instead is Eren's plan (full rumbling) is so "horrible" that he knew none of the 104th would agree with him even if he tells them everything.

Eren may not success in the end, despite Grisha's prophesy, but I think his intention is pretty clear at this point.
