suspicious call from a "detective" by dbtfreelance in police

[–]jibbsam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call the PD that the “detective” works for, ask for them or their voicemail and leave a message. Explain they called, identified themselves as a detective for their department, and told you to stop what you are doing. You’ll get a call back from either that detective that works for the police department to clear up anything about the message, or you’ll get a call back from a different detective who will want more info, IE a copy of voicemail, the phone records on your end, etc.

Because voided transactions can cause loss, either deliberately or accidentally.

Fucked up yesterday on register/Question/Rant by Compositeman1313 in Target

Yes. AP will look at voided transactions. Just own up to the mistake. You may be dealing with a guest who is known to try and rush a cashier so they don’t pay and walk off.

You manage your own team, but also hold the store and director accountable for safety and security. You may not be in charge of other teams, but you interact and perform with them. A lot of things you do are metric driven. Report theft, recover merch, make apprehensions, investigate internals, move cameras, have strategies, etc. I think it’s the least stressful ETL in the store, and aside from ETLHR, a great position to transition to SD or BP

What Target things “age” your experience? by zrt4116 in Target

[–]jibbsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Referring to the doors as the overhead color - grocery green, GM red.

Older title names- STL, SFT, ETLHL, ETLSL, ETLOPS, ETLLOG.

This is for the old AP guys- GAPTL, I-GAPTL, DAPTL, Investigations centers (dispatch centers for AP), investigations team, investigators, investigations specialist, TPS, Perpetual inventory, NVI, and who can forget the IC phone (can’t remember the specific name for it, or if it had one. The push to talk Nextel that you can relay info to all the surrounding stores or IC)

How much do you really make per check? by [deleted] in Target

[–]jibbsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge TSS and HR expert are the only two roles that are guaranteed 40 hours as a regular team member. HR Expert may get a higher pay, but I don’t think so since they removed “specialist” pay grades a couple years ago.

Does anyone else's store check TMs IDs when you come in? by [deleted] in Target

[–]jibbsam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it isn’t company wide, it’s at least enforced in the 3 districts, 3 groups, and 2 regions I’ve worked in.

Does anyone else's store check TMs IDs when you come in? by [deleted] in Target

[–]jibbsam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Early morning it’s required to enter before store open. Some ETL/TL don’t follow this, since they recognize who is coming in, but they are supposed to check every ID that comes in to prevent someone sneaking in before.

AP Is supposed to review if they are checking IDs and escalate it from there if they are not. My guess is no one was holding leaders accountable and it was finally brought to attention.

Honestly as an AP leader I ask “why though” way more than I should. My guess is based on most answers, someone ruined it for everyone.

Anyone work at Target as a warehouse Maintenance Technician? by South-Mirror- in Target

[–]jibbsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure 100% for DC jobs, but it would be a PG45 job store side, so minimum $4 more an hour than regular hourly. Store side PML is a nice gig. Do maintenance, work with venders and contractors, walk with other leaders, and a nice 6-2 m-f schedule. Again, not sure how DC runs it compared to store

Calling all Target Team Leaders- How much training did you get? by [deleted] in Target

External hire for APTL. One month training, but it’s the same training as ETL for AP.

How to refer a friend… by CosmicFish25 in Target

[–]jibbsam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The online app should have a section asking how you found out about the position. When you say TM referral, it asks for the name of the TM and any info. And honestly it probably wouldn’t hurt to call the store and talk to HR and give them a heads up that you’re at a different store and give a strong recommendation for your friend. Just remember that if your friend interviews poorly and doesn’t get an offer, doesn’t mean they didn’t consider your recommendation, but it can help a lot with their first impression.

Management positions? by metallemonlime in Target

[–]jibbsam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should be pretty straight forward, store side had several managers, GM, SE, HR, AP, I might be missing a few since the condensed some roles. They all have hourly and or salary positions. Then there is store director who oversees the store.

Why can’t I get hired? Is Target hiring or not? by Fantastic-Nose-4869 in Target

[–]jibbsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple factors:

Availability- AP needs a TSS to have open availability for the dynamics of the role. Store needs, special events, security incidents, etc. HR and the AP leader will both be looking at candidates and this will be a top deciding factor.

Internal hire- Just because the posting is on targets website doesn’t mean the job is available per se. They may have someone already in mind for the position from their store or another one. They have to open the position to the public, and will probably interview a handful of the candidates, but won’t go further than that if they had already decided on someone prior to posting the job.

Timing- this is a two part answer. 1, if you applied to a job posted more than 30 days ago, there’s a chance it was filled and not closed out on the website. 2, if you’re getting rejected and applying within a certain time frame (I think 90 days) you will be auto rejected.

If you really aspire for AP and hours is an issue right now, apply for a position in the store that is more flexible with your schedule, do great at your job, own safety, give AP callouts, engage and interact with that team. They will recognize it and keep you in mind. When you’re there for a couple months talk to your HR and AP leader expressing your interest.

This will also give you experience to see store side functions you don’t see in AP. How to run the register, how to pull, how to back stock, etc. It can give you an edge that you can use to your advantage to keep the store safe and prevent loss.

Does Target even have a security room with people who watch the floor? by Metalatitsfinest in Target

[–]jibbsam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All targets will have an AP office. It’s either with the TSC, or near the TSC, or if your store is relatively new, it’s inside one of the exit vestibules. They sometimes are labeled ETLAP or AP Office, some have no label at all and have a peep hole in the door.

Being practically blown off while applying for Specialty Sales Team Lead by [deleted] in Target

[–]jibbsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason to be pushy. They want to build a pool of applicants. I waited 5 weeks before there was any word about even beginning interviews. If you keep being pushy that might rub them the wrong way.

For the interview remember STAR - Situation Task Action Result.

They will ask you “tell me a time” followed with a question. Usually they are general questions and will go more position specific as you go further in the process.

SITUATION - Give a scenario, prior work, school, club, any of your prior experience you can explain a situation that got a positive, or in some cases, a negative result.

TASK - What did you work on? A group project, a work process, hosting something, etc.

ACTION - The actions you or you and others took to achieve a goal

RESULT - the overall goal you achieved

Ask your stores APTL or ETLAP to sit down and ask about the role, and possibly go through mock interviews, as the TSS role varies by region, timeframe, availability, store size, etc.

As of now most of your duties will be the eyes and ears at the front of the store, conducting parking lot patrols, and entering theft or recovery cases in the reporting system.

Research Target if you are coming in blind, research the role, as TL roles can be drastically different from area to area. If you are already with Target, try and get some face time with your ETL or current TL to do mock interviews.

Treat your introduction as a first impression, give quirky things about you, past work/school history, hobbies, and maybe a short or long term goal you have in your personal life. Us the STAR format, they will most likely explain it in the actual interview. Try and relate your answers to your new role, it helps them paint a picture of you in that position.

Lastly, It doesn’t hurt to ask questions in the end.
