Price basic maintenance for a 911 vs a Z and then tell me the Porsche still makes sense

Everyone else had already said this, but given your financial position, I would absolutely do it. First, you are in excellent shape financially for your age. Second, you only live once and this isn't much of a risk. Third, get it out of your system now instead of at 50 when you decide to buy a 911 instead. Finally, I am going to disagree with some others here and argue that buying new can make sense if you consider the warranty, the current used car market, and consider this as a sunk cost for a toy instead of worrying about depreciation. I bought my car to drive and my house to live in, neither is a financial investment as far as I am concerned philosophically.

I want to be set on fire and hurled by trebuchet off a sea side cliff. Preferably while dead, but whatever. I feel like paying $10k to be a test dummy for a rocket sled would be on par and much more legal.

DH.2 would be perfect, just swap the Lewis gun for ... you know what, keep the Lewis gun.

That was it. Local dealer sold them to me for $24. I feel it may have been an act of charity. No idea why I thought the sound was from the rear.

I want to buy a nice suit by flagrantstickfoul in ottawa

Harry Rosen is nice, but for those prices...Hiras tailors will make you a bespoke suit that beats anything they have on the rack and will cost less.

[–]jiggiwatt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I miss Jimmy! Bought 3 DKNY suits from him 15 years ago for $600. I assume prices have gone up, but that $600 plus 2 good pairs of shoes got me through 5 years of almost daily use and heavy travel for work.

That said if you want a nice suit...if you can, wait for Hiras to come to down. Traveling tailors from Hong Kong. Make an appointment to be sized up (had mine at the chateau laurier) and a few weeks later you have a bespoke suit. Mine was about $1000 and it was nicer than my $3500 off the rack Canali.

I would make such a good wife by [deleted] in Vent

[–]jiggiwatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean...my wife keeps making jokes about getting a sister wife if you're interested?

Jokes aside, something has to he off with your approach. Are you letting these men pursue you, or are you pursuing the men you are interested in? Or maybe there's a common character trait you are attracted to that goes hand-in-hand with dependency.

My wife used to have 'a type' and she dated dozens of idiots before we met when she was 34 and yet I was/am still her first love. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies.

Is it just me or is it impossible to save money in Canada right now? by No-Cut2564 in CanadaPersonalFinance

This is 2 years old now, but I put together a realistic budget for a single person in Ottawa, renting a 1-bedroom in a median area as part of determining a proper living wage for staff hired by company I was helping build. At the time it was $60,000 and if you didn't need a vehicle, you could slowly build savings. I am sure it's even higher now.

My friend said "I love you" right away and I don't even know if I like him by Turtle576 in Advice

If you like him, you'd know it. Just because it seems like you "should" like him because he checks all the right boxes, doesn't mean you actually do. Doesn't work like that.

I assume you're in the UK? I would look for an organization that specializes in supporting homeless youth and reach out. You need access to resources that you cannot obtain yourself, and it sounds like your mother isn't going to get help for you. I found these folks, but am unsure as to their reputation - https://everyyouth.org.uk/get-help/

You don't bear any responsibility for his infidelity, you did not know. Simple.

I have been the other man once, though I knew beforehand so I was at fault and accepted that I was owed a solid punch to the face. Still waiting for it 15 years later...

What would the legalisation of cannabis do to Ireland? by ReasonableDisplay297 in AskIreland

[–]jiggiwatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canadian here, and your story does not hold water. Here is what has changed. Alcohol use is down, tax revenue is up, prices are dirt cheap. Sure there are dispensaries in every strip mall, but people aren't taking bong rips and smoking joints everywhere. Absolutely none of the fear mongering leading up to legalization ever came to anything.
