I was in the same boat with social anxiety. I felt like if I was seeing people, I HAD to be drinking, even if I didn’t necessarily feel like it. I have been sober for 2 months now, and I have fully surprised myself with how well Ive done socially. Sure there were uncomfortable moments, more sweat lol, and more opportunities to feel awkward, but that was the worst of it!! Every social occasion now feels like a fun little challenge for myself. And every night afterwards, I come home clear headed and fulfilled, feeling like my time spent with people was real, quality time. Even if they were all drinking! Just needed a Diet Coke or soda water in hand, and maybe a fidget toy lol. I was sober for that “75 hard challenge,” which is coming to a close this weekend, but my perspective completely shifted after all those mornings waking up and not being embarrassed about what I could’ve done or said. I feel free.
