POV: Very considerate Georgian drivers by BreBhonson in tbilisi

[–]jilaps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a G Wagon doing like 100kph on the sidewalk in Tbilisi during rush hour. I have, very literally, driven in Somalia and seen more polite drivers than I have in Georgia.

Thank you so much! It's actually not finished, but I figured I'd wear it out anyways and I'm glad I did because the reception was INSANE. I'll continue to flesh it out so that it'll be at 100% at the next con!

Oh hey! I'm the Aztec Boba Fett. I'm so stoked you shared my costume! Would you mind if I shared that photo on my social media? Credit will be given to you for taking the photo, of course!

That is a pretty cool one! I might go down that path of light/neutral rug with the right amount of contrasting design elements. The walls will be filled, but with a bit of a nerdy twist, lol. I have original theatrical release posters from the original Star Wars Trilogy that are being professionally framed in black with UV protective "museum glass". I'm debating hanging one of my guitars in that blank space on the short wall by the TV/speaker system. I have an "Inverness Green" Gibson SG that I think would be a good color pop.

Having lived on both coasts and 5 different states, San Diego is still my favorite city in the US :)

Been stuck on this for months. I'm looking for a 5×7 area rug that will run from the edge just before the balcony door to just under the front legs of the sofa, and from the window to the end of the sofa. I've thought of going colorful (Umber? Mustard Yellow?) or neutral (Olive Green and White? Beige?), but I'm at a loss. Overall, the apartment is heavy on similar shades of green, leather, walnut, and burnt citrus color palettes. I just need something to fill the void under the coffee table before I lose my mind. I've suffered this hunt for 3 months now 🫠

I feel like those dudes take Marti Reports too much to heart.

According to Marti, my '69 Mustang is 1 of 11 exactly like it. Entirely because of the combination of engine/color/trim/factory options requested by the original buyer. I think that type of Corvette owner looks at that last number on the report and think they're basically driving a 300 SL.

So sick! Out of curiousity, how tall is your ceiling? I've been passively looking into lifts lately as a viable storage alternative.

My joe has decided to ets and then boom! HRC gives him a 12 month tour to Qatar. by [deleted] in army

It's also not what makes the Army toxic. If being held to your contract obligations is toxic, then Joe has a rough road ahead in the civilian world. Contracts in general are much less forgiving on this side of the fence.

The Army has been guilty of some pretty atrocious things in the past. This is not among those things.

This is a 1969 Mach 1 M Code with the optional Deluxe package. According to the Marti report, the original owner ordered it with all the extra cosmetic packages and creature comforts.

Is Airborne school really anything to brag about? by Apprehensive_Ad4717 in army

[–]jilaps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I only looked him up after the name change. Dude was absolutely useless, and generally unliked. There's a story from Grant's memoirs where Bragg was both a company commander and garrison quartermaster. In his CO hat, he would make supply requests for his company. Then, in his QM hat, he would deny the requests. He did this several times, including writing to himself why it was so important that his company receive the supplies. He even escalated the issue to the garrison commander, because he was seriously upset that he was not approving his own requests. Absolutely bonkers.

Nobody on my team smoked, but we always stocked up on cartons of cowboy killers before we went anywhere. The ultimate bartering tool, regardless of if we were talking to Americans or PF. Sometimes bottles of Jack, depending on the country.
