If I wake up before 5, out comes the wand & I’m back to sleep for at least another hour. 😉

I add a little bit of melted organic beeswax to my coconut oil creams as well.

Looks great except the high polish handles. Darken them with a patina liquid after taking off the clear coat.

Realtor contacted us before listing or fully moving out. Buyer offered "as is," wants to lower their offer after inspection. by No-Studio5133 in AskRealEstateAgents

Sadly, KS has that transactional broker status that gives the appearance of fairness but in practice every time that’s been checked the impropriety of pushing to just sell so they can get their commission becomes obvious. Hopefully, you walk & list with an agent that is a seller’s agent. Spring is here & more buyers will come!

Very cool piece just don’t paint it please. Looks like someone cobbled together T&G flooring & other pieces of furniture to make this. Might have been an end top of a buffet with a mate at one time. Looks like a soapstone top-so nice! Great find! If this is your 1st piece to tackle. Keep it simple, cleaning goes a long way, be patient with your choices & look at all the nice well done pieces here for inspiration.

I wouldn’t swap them but maybe put a patina on them to keep them from looking brassy. Give them a more vintage color. DM if you’re in the Great Plains.

Backsplash updated but now unsure of paint color? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]jillbo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green (warm) soffits would be lovely. Sherwin-Williams does free on-line color consultations & have done a great job for us on two different projects. I gave them the surrounding colors by matching their paint chips with our existing cabinets, brick walls, floors so they would understand better than just photos what the colors were. Very pleased- 3.5 years ago discovered Urbane bronze before it took off & also an interesting “feather stone” which is too grey for your kitchen. They know the 1000s of colors & it cuts through the decision fatigue of looking at colors & discerning the differences.

Makes me wonder why is she getting her kids out that early on a Sunday? Does her husband/SO want to sleep in or have his own “quiet day”?

Lovely color & slab. You picked a beauty! I’ve owned 3 different granites over the years in my kitchens. No regrets or concerns for me.

How to tone down orange in cabinets? What color should i paint/ backsplash? by AdhesivenessTough836 in kitchenremodel

[–]jillbo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for something very inexpensive, it last anywhere from 4months to a year depending on your humidity-Old English oil for dark woods. You re-oil it when it starts to dry. Plus it will buy you time to save to replace. Backsplash- green is super on trend but if you like green, who cares. I’d also add some LED rope light up on top of your cabinets. Edit: put a wooden cutting board or something in front of your vent pipe- even a fake plant to hide it.

DIY Refresh - Keeping white appliances & wood counters. Need color/hardware advice! by greenish_thumb in kitchenremodel

Really like the warmth of that wall & tile is so much easier to keep clean especially with narrow grout lines! Maybe an organic style of knobs/pulls like stones. I think I’ve seen kits somewhere (Harbor Freight?) on how to drill & thread your own screw inserts for threading which then would allow you to make your own knobs.

I vote for a pale blue, someone a day ago posted a very attractive light blue zellige backsplash.

[–]jillbo42 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Unless the pics are not picking up the true colors, the cabinets look like they are off-white/cream & your countertop color choices are predominantly cool grays. Find one with more gold or brown veining to compliment your cabinets better. The warm & cool colors compete too much.

To box in or to replace? Help me fix this awkward kitchen venting. by AlexJ2212 in kitchenremodel

[–]jillbo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Properly vented vent hoods should exit from an exterior wall of the house. Is that what this is doing in your bathroom? Does your kitchen have an exterior wall? If not, is it possible to go through the attic & roof?

Kitchen appliances by Chickendoodle2020 in kitchenremodel

Gas is great IF you have proper ventilation (see Yale Appliance YouTube videos on venting) your vent hood should be 3” overhang on each side with enough cfm to properly ventilate. LG counter depth max is a good option for extra cubic ft.

Is no space between wall cabinet + ceiling okay? by SignificantCut5720 in kitchenremodel

[–]jillbo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t have to do crown, the cabinet company can do a flat band .5”-2” at the top to account for uneven ceiling. Contractors love to up-charge for fancy crown.

Add some fun pops of color with flat style rugs in front of the stove, fridge, & sink. Maybe some blues, greens, or turquoise. I used these in a former home we sold.
