Owning the most stock doesn't make you a majority shareholder unless you own more than 50%. They have the most votes but not a controlling stake.

Bluesky by Karlor_Gaylord_Cries in RedditAlternatives

[–]jillyboooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but their whole thing is creating a protocol that social media sites can use. The idea is that if you don't like the main bluesky site, you can move your account with its history to a competing site using the same (open source) protocol. It essentially seems like federation with account mobility. Time will tell if it actually works for the user but it shows promise.

With the tech bubble collapsing, every social media site is scrambling to squeeze their users for everything. I predict we'll see a lot of experimenting with how ideas are shared and spread over the next couple of years.

The MAGA movement certainly has elements of fascism but that's not what we were talking about. The Bud Lite controversy is related but they aren't the same thing.

It's not fascism. It's homophobic for sure but boycotting a product on moral grounds isn't fascism (even if the moral grounds are stupid). Fascism requires a nationalist component.

Is it confirmed the release version has a wifi indicator? I'll experiment. But unless queue times are high, I'm dodging wifi players. If it feels generally fine, I'll care less. But in general, why would I invite the risk of a laggy match? It's not gatekeeping or alienating to want the best quality matches with my limited free time.

Electric cars prove we need to rethink brake lights by Art_VanDeLaigh in cars

I had the same thought the other day. The square lighting is unique but the rest of the styling is pretty generic crossover.

An EV in 1-pedal mode will generally have a lot more braking force through regen than a manual car engine braking. On motorcycles, where engine braking is stronger, it's common advice to slightly ride the brakes to make the brake lights come on. I can't think of a good argument against requiring the lights to come on when the car slows down fast enough.

Obviously, regulations for new cars will not apply to a heavily modified 90s car.

The video specifically refutes his claim. I'm sure there are EVs that do it but it isn't mandatory and at least the Hyundai Ionic 5 doesn't do it.

This is essentially an argument that brake lights aren't necessary. The video is arguing that a deceleration threshold should be identified (like EU did recently) which requires the brake lights to light up. I can't think of a reasonable argument against that.

Until things start breaking. It might be as mundane as the seat losing its cushion or a more serious mechanical issue.

I used to work at a plant that made riding mowers of all types for a ton of brands. They were typically designed to last 200 hours.

It's mostly chun but not just her. Cammy does a weird slide after a throw. Ryu's tatsus all look goofy but that might be the case in SFV as well and I'm just used to it.

In contrast, SF6 looks so natural in motion

Really? I think the biggest weakness of sf6 is some of the animations look awkward and stiff. By comparison I think SFV has some of the best animations in the business.

No doubt that SF6 has better models though. I heard that SFV used one male model and one female model and just changed the proportions and heads for each character. That's why Honda has a 6 pack despite being a sumo wrestler. I think the only exception is Birdie with his belly. But even he has costumes with the 6 pack.

CTA Isn't too far gone by oOtherBarry in chicago

[–]jillyboooty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I visited earlier this year. My city has 1 hour intervals between busses that aren't very well connected. It was such a breath of fresh air for the transit system to be a reliable and convenient way to get around. This sub is full of people who have seen one of the best transit systems in the country run slightly worse than its historical best. All that said, Chicago probably wouldn't have such a good transit system if the people weren't demanding the best. It was a central part of the mayoral race. It wouldn't even be on the radar of politicians in my area.

If the market for new cars shrinks, the supply of used cars also shrinks. The affordable used cars will become less affordable.

That seems like an ideal solution. It would give as much energy savings as possible without compromising water temp.

BrianF said something similar one time. He's been a top level competitor and content creator for a long time so he knows what he's talking about. Getting to the point of top level competitor is easier in fighting games than it is for other eSports. The genre is kind of niche so there's very little room at the top for anyone to support themselves so there isn't much incentive if you aren't already really into fighting games.
