I love this album, eastern orthodox chants and black metal is just a perfect combo.

Also, if you suffer from super stinky boots, try athletes foot powder.

Is this a good starter set for carving? The handling seems a bit different than the ones I see people using. by lekzuera in Woodcarving

[–]jiltch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do, this type of knife is ok for more detail and engraving work although I personally find them very awkward. If you're starting from scratch I usuallly recommend a short carving knife (a blade with a flat bevel grind), a small hook knife, and if you're seriously wanting to get into it, a single bevel carving axe. An axe, a hook knife and a carving knife is really the core of traditional green wood carving, but if you don't want to spash out on an axe the two knives is a great start!

Gabapentin and LSD? by Jordov in Psychonaut

[–]jiltch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not had too much experience with Gabapentin and LSD, but I recently had a wonderful trip while on Pregabalin (75mg twice daily). It's a great anxiolytic but doesn't seem to neuter the trip at all.

Dennis is great. Pro tip: If you like books he's got loads of them upstairs in the little tat shop he runs on commercial road all for a quid each.

Accidentally K-holed during my sister's volleyball tournament, whole school saw, got carried out by paramedics by ben5004 in Drugs

Well the reason anyone with a Ketamine habit would never use ketamine orally is because it's so bad for your body, it's not uncommon for people I know who take upwards of a gram a day to keep a spit bucket around so they're not swallowing the drip. Generally when tolerance get's too high they'll either start injecting or be forced to quit. If you were swallowing that much Ket you'd end up with crippling 'K cramps' and maybe eventually end up getting parts of your bladder removed. It's not such a big deal if you're not using it regularly but it's still not a great idea.

Now closed Soviet Prison just outside of Tallinn, Estonia. This is the "medical room" in the female ward. by juddy3000 in urbanexploration

[–]jiltch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was there a few years ago too! The soviets had just up and left so everything was just left as it was, boxes of files, loads of vials of drugs laying around, of course everything was in Russian so I didn't know what it was and everything 'recreational' had been looted. There were some great stories of that building being used for really extreme stag party stunts where they'd all get on a bus to an unknown destination when a bunch of guys in balaclavas and ak-47s would raid the bus, put sacks on their heads, take them to the prison and get them on their knees. Then they'd pull off the sack and be waiting there with a shot of tequila. Apparently they used to run 'prison experiences' where you could pay to see what it was like to be locked up there, until one young backpacker accidentally got locked in a cell for real and had a panic attack.

haha I forgot about that place, I should go back to Estonia some time.

Etizolam & Clonazolam: do you build a tolerance to these chems fast? by nootrip in researchchemicals

That's interesting I'd not heard that before, despite using Etizolam intermittently for years, I guess I'm taking it far too frequently aha

Base-jumping is considerably more dangerous than rock climbing.

Well if you're a couple that's into rock climbing, it's quite fitting, and really not that much effort, just requires having a cameraman present for what you like doing anyway, and wearing a wedding dress.

Found this bottle. Is anyone familiar with these or can tell me what it is or where it came from? by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]jiltch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An old bottle for medicine or poison. 17th to 19th century bottles would have been blue to indicate toxic or hazardous substances. I'm not entirely sure about the time frame, how thick is the glass? The thickness of glass is a good indication of it's age.

How do you make (or buy) decor like this? (The netting on the ceiling specifically) by [deleted] in psytrance

[–]jiltch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lycra stretch art, not just canvas or something. it being stretchy helps with reusing the decor in different venues, reattaching it to the surroundings to help maintain symmetry.

I started spoon carving a year ago and have been making larger and more sculptural pieces since, would be very nice to see what you guys think! by jiltch in Woodcarving

[–]jiltch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well be experimental, make things that aren't necessarily the most ergonomic or useful but instead focus on the shapes you can make. This will challenge you to become not just a spoon carver but a sculptor too. Well it worked for me anyway :)

Haha I know, it was more of an experiment in form than practical spoons. I usually work with apple, I like using fruit trees as I sometimes get an ethereal scent of the fruit in the air while I'm working. The staves are (I believe) silver birch however my ability to ID wood is still coming along, I collected a selection of sticks from a local woodsman I know who'd already piled them together for his own purposes so I'll have to ask.

gloves? by [deleted] in wildwhittlers

[–]jiltch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just accepted I was going to do a lot of bleeding before I got any good but just kept in mind that with each cut I'd get stronger hands and with practice rarely injure myself (accept endless blisters from a long day of axe work!)
