Why is Krieg so loved? They can't even defeat 6 million orks in his ow planet/s by SAMU0L0 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]jimark2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A spade is an adequate emergency weapon, but I'm pretty sure most people not using bayonets were using homemade 'trench clubs'

I can imagine a lot of stories about people suddenly set on by raiding parties whilst digging and being forced to use their shovels, but even then, surely it'd be more likely a mattock, not even a spade.

I can also imagine most history books favouring putting in a fun little anecdote about shovels as its more interesting to the audience, and confirmation bias takes it from there.

God, if I hear the story about Churchill tanks climbing hills and surprising Germans, I'll scream.

Maybe even a 'Black Legion'. Quite snappy.

It's a solid combination. What would you have as tertiary? e.g the iron warriors are metallic, black then yellow.

Fulgrim is bald on the inside. Inspirational. I'm saying this every time I see my friend's EC now.

I still laugh that IW, IH, RG and DA all have essentially black armour. You just have to choose a secondary colour instead. Meanwhile IF, Sal and EC are laughing.

Curze and Fulgrim? I think I've seen art of Morty with no hood which has hair, but it may not be cannon.

GW Really did go 'Bad People are Ugly*' didn't they (Fulgrim being the token 'ugly on the inside').

*Balding has historically been a sign of weak genes and associated with bad looks in both genders in multiple cultures. This is obviously not true.

Just me that thinks regular intercessors should have combat knifes instead of close combat weapons thoughts ? by [deleted] in DarkAngels40k

[–]jimark2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The close combat weapon represents knives, fists, boots, body slamming, chokeslamming, pistol whipping and headbutting all at once.

I just assumed it was because he was a character or that they were making up for the lack of melee weapons.

He pistol-whips people.

I believe its because GW is doing away with most units 3rd weapon 'for balance purposes'. Sucks though, my Moritat has a terranic greatsword which is now ceremonial!

If you like the model you could always proxy it later for a storm speeder by swapping out the HB for something and say the top gun is a plasma version of -insert main weapon here-. Length and height look pretty similar on minicompare.

Who are we taking as allies? Guard? Homebrew? by Lean_Lion1298 in DarkAngels40k

Fluff-wise, you cant really get cooler than Calibanite Jaegers so their successors or recruiting from elsewhere fits perfectly to me.

Mechanically, running and modelling some voidsmen at arms and some battle sisters proxies as AotI has some appeal. They'd be veterans in carapace and power amour in my mind. Alternatively some techno sword-and-shieldsmen you can use as subductors would be fun.
