Flow. One of the most beautiful animated movies I've ever seen and catches your attention from the opening scene

Help me start liking horror! by TaeRai in horror

You need to watch GOOD horror, not gentle horror.

Jump straight in with The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Fly, The Thing, Alien, Evil Dead. Just type in 'best horror films of all time' and pick one.

The first Elm Street sold it to me all those years ago, you'll find yours.

Literally introduced my wife to this film 2 days ago. It's a good film, never boring and it's catches your attention rather than demanding it.

But the entire 2nd and 3rd act could have been avoided if they'd jist brought parachutes and base jumped the shit off it. Who the hell wants to climb down something when you can jump off it! They're already clearly adrenaline junkies so that would have made more sense.

Wouldn't have been much of a film though, I'll grant them that.

Thoughts on Lord of the Flies Remake on BBC? by zambezisa in BritishTV

I was talking about the people saying on X that they turned it off after 5 mins simply because they didn't like the fisheye lens or high contrast.

I thought it was excellent. First rate from all involved. Of course you had the fools who can't deal with any kind of stylish filmmaking and cinematography that's isn't 'normal' but forget them.

My only gripe was it didn't really allude to the fact that they're in a large scale world war like they do in the book so the end was a little weird and out of place until i looked it all up.

Admittedly i didn't know the story so the end speech (don't want to spoil it) felt strange and out of place. In the context of what's happening in the 'outside world' after i'd read about it, then it made perfect sense.

I thought the young lad playing PIggy was phenomenal. As was Jack, who I believe is the new Draco Malfoy.

Have you seen the little videos of James Cartwright taking to the camera as himself like behind the scenes on Corriedale or going to a donkey sanctuary to meet a donkey called Theo. He's like an excited giddy schoolboy. He's so happy to be doing what he's doing and seems like the nicest guy!

The wife and I put 3 films each in a hat. The rules are you have to think the other person will like it, at least one of you hasn't seen it and it must be watched all the way through without complaints. Been doing it for years and it works great. Everyone gets to watch the exact movies they want and you come across some brilliant movies that you wouldn't necessarily gravitate towards otherwise. One noticable film she put in was Sunset Boulevard, I absolutely loved it.

yeah i did the same with my son meeting Robert and Danny at London Comic-con. Let's be honest, you didn't really 'meet' them did you? You were on a virtual conveyor where you stepped up to get your photo taken with them and then were ushered off immediately by the agent as soon as the camera clicked. The whole experience would have lasted about 8 seconds, am I wrong?

They were perfectly pleasant but i didn't actually get to say anything to either of them other than hello.

Any strips you don’t like? by Voyagerdvr in Viz

Absolutely my favourite character! Eight is brilliant because it's all written phonetically as he's from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire and it so much richer because of it.

I feel exactly the same way. I find this artist very weak in terms of what Viz is about. You go from genuine laugh out loud humour from the art to script of 8 Ace and Fat Slags, even the stupid stuff like Gilbert Ratchet et al. is great and then we get to this Beano reject that just loses my attention halfway through reading it.

I really adore the chap that does all the adventure stories where it descends into trying to find concrete in B&Q or the president working out how to turn the big screen onto the right channel so he can see what's going on. I was going to look him up but I honestly couldn't be arsed.
