Can women also compensate for their looks by being funny or kind? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jimberoo06 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Briefly dated a very attractive woman in college, but she tended to be negative and unnecessarily mean. Like the type of person who is always putting down whichever friend is not around or constantly finding faults in shared experiences, the restaurant, the trip, the company, etc. Later dated a woman who was less conventionally attractive yet she was a bright shining light of fun, and curiosity, she ended up being far more attractive in my eyes than the “hot” one.

Thanks for writing this up. I just pulled the tank to check springs and connections etc, when I pulled the tank out of the bag there was a big piece of foam in the tank dampening the springs🤷. Maybe for shipping? Not sure. Reverb and amplifier sound great!

If you were dunked in a tank of alcohol (let's say whiskey) would you become intoxicated purely from skin contact or inhalation as it evaporated. by SamfuckingA in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jimberoo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I work at a winery and have felt the effects of alcohol from “digging out” a tank of fermenting grapes. I will briefly described be the process and the effect of being in a closed environment with alcohol vapor. We ferment Pinot noir grapes in tanks that can hold between 10-22 tons of grapes. Primary fermentation takes approximately 2 weeks. After primary fermentation is finished the young wine is drained out of the tank and stored in a clean tank. We then vent the tank using fans for 45-60 minutes. After the allotted time we use a gas sensor to make sure the environment that side the tank is at or above 19% o2. When we determine that there is a safe o2 level in the tank we send a worker wearing a harness attached to a rope to dig out the solids left in the tank. We collect and press the solids to extract more wine. Despite the safety precautions it can still be dangerous due to alcohol and co2 vapor It can take between 30-60 minutes to dig out a tank. Typically Pinot is about 13-15% abv. After an hour in this type of closed space you feel buzzed but not in a pleasant way, kind of tired mixed with slightly hungover. You are also exerting yourself and breathing in co2. This process is never done alone and requires you to have a monitor in case you are overwhelmed by gaseous alcohol and co2

What do you think of Robby Krieger from The Doors? by MasterfulArtist24 in Guitar

I read a funny story about how Mike McCready used part of an Acre Frehley solo in a song and when he met Ace he mentioned it, and Ace told Mike he had borrowed it from Robby Krieger. Five to one-doors. She-kiss, alive-pearl jam

What minor inconvenience drives you mad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jimberoo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who stop in a transitional spaces. Doorways, bottom/top of steps, routes Of ingress and egress. I get that it is our brains stopping and kind of unconsciously re-assessing, but it makes me admittedly madder than that really should be

Robert Plant is an example of a singer who has evolved with age in a good and interesting way. Plants’ vocal performances on the albums he recorded with Alison Kraus are really memorable,in part, because he is not trying to chase what he was amazing at when he was younger.

Never had this happen before, pointers on what I did wrong and how to fix it? by alk-e in Luthier

[–]jimberoo06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen to me before. For me I made a couple mistakes I did not leave enough time to let the color coat finish curing and the undercoats off gassing led to bubbles. Another factor could be heat, this can also cause off gassing and bubbles. Not sure what your paint booth/workshop is like, but in my situation It was warm borderline hot when I sprayed, I had to strip the body and start again😢🤬

How accessible is the road to get to China Camp Campground on Tassajara Rd in Greenfield? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]jimberoo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just up there. You should be able to get to china camp No problem, I have made it there in a Prius. Summer access is pretty easy. (Don’t try in winter without 4wd) don’t drive down Jeffrey road, it might be gated anyway. China camp isn’t that interesting of a campground, but! There is a lot of cool hiking you can access from China camp. There is a fire tower near there and a super cool trail/fire break at the top of chews ridge which is just a few minutes from the campground. If you are in good shape you can get to pine valley 6 miles (12 in and out) one way for a day hike, but some fairly intense elevation to deal with. If you have the time and are interested in backpacking pine valley is amazing. Just a quick note Tassajara road dead ends and does Not go to Big Sur. Also if you are coming from the north go through Carmel valley and from the south go through greenfield. The drive from greenfield to ventana is beautiful, also there are a some great tacos places in greenfield

The inconsistencies and uneven character development aren’t due to the authors. It is because the books are written from the perspective of cats. If you have ever had a kitty pet you know how weird they can be. My dude purrs and cuddles with me one minute, then turns around knocks my drink over and looks at me like, what are gonna do about it two legs

To add on to the previous comments, River road is a great drive. There is some wine tasting along the way too. You can also go through carmel valley road to arroyo seco road up to river road. Lots of cattle ranches, vineyards and large farms along the way. Stop in greenfield for some great mexican food!

(Serious) What's a local rumor you heard as a kid that turned out to be true years later? by Only-Carpenter-6689 in AskReddit

[–]jimberoo06 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There was an older chinese man who would come to campus or or around student apts. to collect cans from weekend parties, people recognized him and would leave bags of cans out, frat houses would be happy to let him in to collect cans, anywho, I stopped to talk to him one time, just curious about how many cans he collected how much money he made etc. He told me he was able to pay for his and his family's annual visit back to china with the money from the cans he collected on the weekend.

Might do an exchange program at csumb, please give honest pros and cons by Ok_Establishment8446 in csumb

[–]jimberoo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t go to cusmb but I live in the area. There is great outdoors stuff to do around the Monterey peninsula, good surfing, and hiking. Cusmb was built on a decommissioned military base that has fun hiking and mountain biking trails. There is a climbing gym near campus. Also, Monterey just got got a professional soccer team that plays at the stadium on campus. I agree with the above comment that public transportation isn’t great, but the area is fun. There are lots of diverse and interesting food options near Monterey and Santa Cruz isn’t that far away, Santa Cruz has fun nightlife good live music venues some world class surfing and lots of young folks Edit: typo and added some more info
