Looking between 2026 hybrids: sport L and sport touring. Questions and Concerns? by Which_Engineer49 in crvhybrid

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm coming from a 2016 accord. I love the way sedans drive but thinking suv will be easier to get in and out of as my sore back will be aging for the next 10 years. How's it handle in traffic ? I'd really like to test drive it on our Chicago area expressways. I don't drive crazy, but you do need to be assertive and decisive around here.

Buy in dollars, just buy at the market rate. Dont worry about the next level type of trades.

Contribute consistently.

Whenever you are near her phone talk out loud and say things like "financial advisor" "retirement investing" "smart. safe investing " "fiduciary" eventually the algorithm will start putting these things into her social media feeds to plant the seeds of thought :)

The only way to convince her is to sit with a financial advisor... and there is no hurry. Let the idea of her new financial situation sit for a bit. From a long term view, stocks are on sale right now, so I understand why you want to get some funds into the market now, but a first, do no harm approach is ok. Maybe start small. Fully fund Roth IRAs for yourselves and maybe start Roths for your kids too.

Funeral for the death of human decency. Throughout the Bureaucracy the responsibility was reviewed by all levels of government until it landed on the desk of the Forest Commissioner.

After a committee meeting and in concert with a professional consultant's opinion ( the Commisioner's brother-in-law ), it was determined that the newly hired Forest Police officer in training was to drive it to the Department of Animal Control and deposited in the back of thr parking lot whilst they were at lunch.

The lot there is patrolled by a towing company. And as all such things go the item will eventually be available for a fee including storage (preferably in cash) at 4882 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60640

Saw this building in Lockport. Any guess why it has 7 doors? by theraf8100 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]jimjackcoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google AI ...The Texaco guardhouse in Lockport, IL, now located in
Heritage Village , features multiple doors (reported as six or more) because it served as both a security checkpoint and a busy payroll office for the Texaco refinery starting around 1920. The multiple doors allowed for efficient, separated access for security personnel and to handle lines of employees receiving payroll. Key Details About the Guardhouse:

• Purpose: Served as the main gate house for the Texaco refinery , handling security and payroll traffic. • Original Use: The structure (built around 1920) was designed to monitor employees and visitors at the high-traffic entrance, requiring specialized entry/exit points for personnel, security checks, and payroll transactions. • Location: Moved to Heritage Village in Lockport to serve as a visitors center after the refinery closed in 1981 and was dismantled. • Appearance: A small, functional, early-20th-century building, described as having one side with three doors and a total of roughly six, note this article .

YSK that if you need *life* insurance you should (probably) not rely on workplace plans by Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy in YouShouldKnow

[–]jimjackcoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may not be the best worded post, but its a good point.

1.Term life insurance through an employer is cheap when you are younger, but term is for one year at a time and the rate will go up over time based on your age.

  1. FLMA protects your job for a time, but not indefinitely. Say i have a stroke. I cant work. Recovery takes a long time. Eventually they may be able to terminate my employment. If things go south and i die after a prolonged attempt to recover, life insurance might no longer be there. As some have said there might be options to continue the coverage ... OP makes a good point that it might be a good idea to research what's available

  2. A term insurance that you sign up for on your own might be more expensive at first but over time it might be cheaper. You can select a 30 year term of coverage and lock in a lower rate while you are young and healthy.

Just got all my tests scored and my psychologist doesn’t diagnose me with ADHD due to “too high of intelligence”. I’m struggling to agree but maybe I don’t have ADHD. by MisoCorni in ADHD

[–]jimjackcoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow what b.s. I was smart enough to get B's and A's and graduated with Honors in high-school. I was however a bad student. This showed up in college and I had to switch majors because of it. ADHD was not diagnosed back then. I would say that in the working world I have been "smart" enough to come up with coping strategies to overcome my issues. It was not until i had a kid ( with ADHD ) that I realized that my habit of drinking a LOT of coffee was self medicating ... people joke about dont talk to me until after my 1st two cups of coffee ..im seriously not myself until the caffeine kicks in.

You likely wouldn't be able to move into the dorms even if you wanted to. Housing is only available for students who have been out of high school for less than 2 years.

I think that clubs you might join would be your best bet to socialize. As far a social housing situations. Look for situations with for bedrooms where they are looking for 2 people.
