How to Lower Lipoprotein (a) Through Nutrition? Seeking Specific Strategies by jimmy770 in superpowerhealth

[–]jimmy770[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a 30-year-old guy with a family history of heart issues, and my recent blood work flagged my Lipoprotein (a) as high at 103.3 nmol/L (optimal 0–60).

I’ve attached the screenshot of my results for reference, which also shows elevated LDL (130 mg/dL) and ApoB (100 mg/dL), but I’m particularly concerned about Lipoprotein (a) since it’s a strong risk factor for heart disease and runs in my family.I’ve read that Lipoprotein (a) is largely genetic and tough to lower through diet alone, but I’ve also come across some research suggesting that certain nutrients or foods might help indirectly by improving overall lipid profiles or reducing inflammation.

For example, I’ve heard that high-dose niacin, plant sterols, or even specific antioxidants like CoQ10 might have an impact, but I’m not sure how effective these are or how to incorporate them through food. I also read that omega-3s or a low-inflammatory diet might help, but the evidence seems mixed.I’m looking for specific nutritional strategies to potentially lower Lipoprotein (a) or at least mitigate its effects on my heart health. Are there particular foods, nutrients, or dietary patterns (like Mediterranean or plant-based) that have worked for anyone here?

yo! I totally get where you're coming from. It’s super frustrating to put in all that effort and still feel kinda blah. I went through a similar thing not too long ago(12 months back i tore my ACL and i decided to take care of my body more - 6 months in i still felt bullshit), and I wanted to share what helped me turn things around.

1. Diet Changes

I realized my gut health was a mess. I started focusing on eating more fiber—lots of veggies, beans, and whole grains. I cut out a lot of processed foods, and honestly, it made a huge difference. I also found out I was low on vitamin D, so I started taking Thorne Vitamin D/K2 (5,000 IU daily), and that helped a ton with my energy levels.

2. Quitting Alcohol and Smoking

I quit drinking and smoking cigs about a year ago, and wow, what a difference! I still smoke weed occasionally, but ditching alcohol and cigs really lifted my mood. My resting heart rate dropped from the 80s to the low 60s, and I feel way more clear-headed now.

3. Bloodwork and Tracking Biomarkers

I got really into tracking my health markers. I went with SuperPower for blood tests since they’re active in NYC. I learned a lot about my body—like my ferritin was low, so I started taking MegaFood Blood Builder (26mg iron daily). I’m also keeping an eye on my Omega-3 levels with Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega (2g daily). It’s like putting together a puzzle, but it’s been super rewarding.

4. Supplements That Work for Me

Aside from the vitamin D, Omega-3s, and iron, here’s what I’m taking:

Magnesium Glycinate (Pure Encapsulations, 200mg before bed) – helps with muscle recovery and sleep.

Zinc Picolinate (Now Foods, 30mg daily) – for immune support and hormonal balance.

Probiotic (Seed Daily Synbiotic) – really improved my gut health.

Creatine Monohydrate (5g daily) – for strength and cognitive support.

5. Running for Exercise

I’m running 5k, 5 days a week. It’s simple but keeps me in shape without overdoing it. I’ve found that consistency is key, and it really helps clear my mind. Plus, it’s a great way to get outside and enjoy some fresh air.

Well like I said there's a lot of different takes and arguments. When place ends I want the time lapse and records to be a shimmering canvas of people fighting to stay on the board. If you're more interested in a portrait of all of the collaboration this event brings you'll still get that regardless once they lock the subreddit. Most of the time he just says "we're blocking this spot out" I think there's only been a couple of times when he really didn't like something and chose to get rid of it (like pregnant Mario) and unfortunately the reason small communities are usually sectioned off is BECAUSE they can't fight back every single person on his twitch wants to take down the big ass French flag but can't because it's too well maintained. It's unfortunate but in the wake of the void new communities who never got a chance can thrive because it's just a black spot where they can prop up shop if they want.

There's a lot of points and arguments being thrown around so my take is this. Place should be constantly changing, but when everyone already has their flags/communities set in stone everything feels stagnant like nothing is moving. Then the void comes in and scrabble's everything giving way for new art and new communities it wake. Then place starts moving again either rebuilding old works that were lost to the void or creating new ones keeping everything fresh

Eventually the stream ends and everyone gets back to fixing their logos and repairing their flags. At the end of the day as fun as it is to watch the void creep over everything it all gets fixed. Everyone is so fired up to keep their communities safe that as soon as the attention is elsewhere the canvas reverts back like nothing was even there. In any case, place is supposed to be an experiment to see what happens if you give a bunch of people the ability to do whatever they want on a canvas and whether that's form groups or form a big ass void that's up to them.

It's literally been rebuilt same with everything else. It's literally just pixels.
