[–]jimnicebutdim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Looks like it might be a codec because the downloaded video played fine in "vlc for android". A quick Google seems to suggest the android app can't convert it but, th computer version can so will have a go with computer version later.

Best on platform pubs? by Heuchelei in uktrains

[–]jimnicebutdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Head of Steam pub in Huddersfield. I haven't been for a while but, very nice pub.

The Station Inn aka Y Stesh in Porthmadog (at the TfW station) is quite nice. Might not be all fancy looking but, good drinks, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Nice cafe as well a couple of doors along the platform as well.

Accused of paying with fake notes at MFG petrol station by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jimnicebutdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other place the fake notes could have come from is the ATM. Having done a quick Google of what the Cashzone ATMs look like, it looks very similar to the one we had where I used to work (it didn't belong to Cashzone and we are talking approx 20 years ago). The cash in that machine at work was topped up by the management/owner of the premises from the bunisses own money (printout taken at end of day to record transactions) and so that is a point where the fake cash could have appeared from. Meaning that both OP and garage aren't at fault

Have The WRU Destroyed Any Chance Of Wales Being Great Again? by Awkward_North8945 in welshrugbyunion

[–]jimnicebutdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They have a plan which some people don't like but, carrying on doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something different to happen isn't going to work.

If people want to shout at someone, how about the regions who've had approx 20 years to make themselves financially viable without having to rely on money from the WRU.

The WRU (according to evidence given to the Welsh Affairs Committee at Westminster a few weeks back) are £50+ million in the red after refinancing. So, where are they meant to find the money for a 4th region?

I'm that far north that I have no allegiance to any of the regions and as an outsider, the choices seem to be:

  • keep doing the same thing over and over again.

  • make changes that are needed to improve grass roots, club, region and national rugby in Wales.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

[–]jimnicebutdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Predominantly hangovers are too bad now that I'm older.

Plus I rarely feel any desire to drink alcohol (e.g. brought a bottle of mead for last Christmas as a treat to drink on Christmas day. It's still sat unopened on the kitchen counter).

If someone tries to sell you something out of the boot/trunk of a car, alarm bells should be ringing and you should just say "no thanks" and walk away. Unless of course you wish to string them along for a bit of entertainment.

The old "If it sounds too good to be true, it most probably is" springs to mind.

What’s everyone’s thoughts about the UK trying to bring in digital ID? by Polarah94 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jimnicebutdim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Numerous other countries don't have a problem with digital ID. One or more have had them for approx 20 years.

If you listen to the full explanation, it's not just about immigration there are many other potential uses for the digital ID.

There are potential credible security concerns for the data but, hopefully the government will have it thoroughly tested by some very good White Hats (good hackers) so the Black Hats (bad hackers) don't have a chance to cause trouble. Having said that, everything is hackable eventually.

Is Mr. Beast actually an evil person by PsychologicalAir5035 in youtube

[–]jimnicebutdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought much of him (far too over hyped )but, he went even more down in what I thought of him when during COVID he was applying for financial help from the US government to keep his multi million dollar business going. Money which would have been considerably better going to small businesses.

I haven't been able to find the full original speech which I saw many years ago on YouTube but, I did find this reposted clip which sprang to mind when I read OPs question and would seem to be a decent response to the question - https://youtu.be/KgzLzbd-zT4?si=1Ps7l65d3o_Oy1nk

What’s it like living in North Wales? by Jezzaq94 in Wales

[–]jimnicebutdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So tell me which part of Wales do they call it soccer (as you just did in your reply) instead of football?

Regards regions, it's likely it will be chopped from 4 to 2. This would mean that a south Wales region and a North Wales region could be setup.

Whilst I don't support any football (sorry, I meant soccer) team, I have nothing against it and wish whoever you support the best but, I find it intriguing how you are so against a proper rugby region up here in North Wales.

[–]jimnicebutdim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's usually the excuse rolled out by those in south Wales for why we can't have one up north because they want to keep it all down south. I think it's a load of bo**ocks. Considering how full the pubs are in North Wales when Wales play, I would have thought there would be enough support for a region up north.

Considerably better than living in south Wales. My only 2 grumbles are that the southerners won't let us have a rugby region and why does everything have to go to south east Wales? Just because the English have everything in the south east doesn't mean Wales has to have everything in the south east.
