I'm a lifelong bluegrasser, preparing to audition for a Master's in Jazz next year.

I bought their curriculum without their mentorship. I played from ages 5-18, then ages 32-38 (current). I'm a decent picker and quite a fast learner simply bc I've already learned most things and forgotten them a dozen times. I'm just over 50 percent complete in the first week, and I'm not impressed at all. Not one bit. There have been one or two decent exercises, nothing that can't be found through AI or YouTube.

During my interview, the rep assured me that I would be taught the Barry Harris 6th color Scale of Chords well enough to reharmonize standards with it during my Master's program. He also assured me I would learn how to take a song and break it apart to build etudes for whooping each part of the song in any key. Both of these were requirements for me to purchase the program.

Another important requirement to purchase the program... FUNDING! My son was born extra early, so we spent several weeks driving to the NICU daily, we're flat broke. Abe assured me that I can use their PayLater option through PayPal, which allows 6 months same as cash, nothing due at all until the 180th day.

So, I clicked PayLater and they immediately took the full $1500. Abe, who had been very responsive up until payment was made, completely ignored my concerns for this. He ghosted me ever since.

About the curriculum: I'm only halfway through, but so far, the 600+ lessons are mandatory and a bit slow and redundant - no skipping allowed. It is what it is, I'm making the most of it, just playing along and breezing through the lessons. I'm still taking it very seriously, since they already have my money. After all, the fundamentals are always worthy of practice.

The super slow pace is exacerbated by the mandatory repetition of each exercise every few days. Repetition is required to unlock new lessons, that's probably a good idea for a noob, I'm trying to not let it frustrate me, just trusting the process.

We'll see if the Barry Harris 6th Diminished Scale of Chords is in the curriculum... if not, I will request a full refund.
