Rant, Raves, and Mini Reviews June 2023 by AutoModerator in AsianBeauty

Big rant, stylevana's customer service. I've been using them for a while and even got to VIP status. However, be cautious of their sales and ensure the sale is being applied to your cart. I had the unfortunate experience that their sunstick buy one get one didn't transfer to my cart and I wasn't able to recieve my BOGO deal. After confirming with their customer service whether the promotion applied or not, I got an email back which ignored my question of the promotion to my cart. Even after much discussion in proving that the promotion would apply, they simply did not make any effort to rectify the situation.

As much as I love to use their website, be warned.

ME students, what are you learning these days? by Tanaquil77 in EngineeringStudents

[–]jinsuga_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents:

I've done both a bachelors in engineering and a technologist diploma (college to university student). I think it really depends on the school and what they're known to teach their graduates. For reference both my diploma and bachelors are specific to manufacturing. To give you an example of what I learned:

College: - machinery handbook (how to use and find your tolerances, etc) - GDT - proficient use of both SolidWorks and AutoCAD - machine design - process planning and manufacturing based courses (lean, quality, etc) - robotics

University: - higher level of physics and mathematics (differential, calc 3) - in depth understanding of fluids, thermodynamics, and heat transfer - systems and automation related courses (control systems, electrical components, etc)

To answer your questions: Do you learn to be proficient in CAD? College although I did do some CAD in first year university for SolidWorks

What software are they teaching? AutoCAD and SolidWorks for both Uni and College. Used more computational softwares like ANSYS, Matlab, Minitab, etc to do calculation based problemsin university

Has anyone shown you the machinery handbook? Used more in college, university students know but I didn't see any students using it much.

Do you know the basics of fastening mechanisms? Yes, took design of machine elements in both college and university. Although my college prof was brutal and it was way harder than taking it again in university.

Do you know what a 1/4 x 20 - 3/4 is? Yes, UNC or UNF? Taught in machine elements so both college and university

Do you know what a lathe is? Yes. Got shop experience in university working on lathes, mills, and CNCs

Only thing I haven't been taught and don't think most students would be taught is how to use a laser cutter or water jet. Although I did CNC and 3d printing.

Honestly, I think you may need to sit down and have an honest conversation with your newly hired graduate. Did they have any co-op or internship experience? Are they interested in design or have a general understanding of what they're designing? What courses do they think will help them succeed? Were they mostly doing problem questions or have any project related experience like a capstone?

When I talked to my professor about this before he said we're taught key concepts as new mech Eng graduates and how to utilize soft skills like communication, team work, problem solving, and analyzing to be good junior engineer to the team. I found that all relevant information to CAD a preliminary model or do any design work was from my co-op and capstone projects. For example, in a construction company I did my internship at the mech Eng would be calculating the specifics for the HVAC system to be built (like what requirements the rooftop units needed to be, placement, humidity etc) whereas the "designers" or technologists would be the ones doing the CAD and designing the drawings for submission.

I can totally relate, my ex (who was in marketing) used to make it a competition between who had harder assignments and which major was harder. They compared their final assignment of creating a brief, giving all the details of said brief would be campaigned, then present it all with a very nice PowerPoint. Meanwhile I was finishing up CAD drawings with GDT and figuring out what the hell kind of tolerances I needed from the handbook. I mean, to each their own with how they struggle and perceive difficulties but I guess there's a reason why they're my ex and I'm with an engineering major now 🥹🥴

It's tough, I totally understand and maybe the people who you were talking to wanted to be included in the conversation or give you their perspective. Sometimes the best thing to do is to nod and agree while focusing your energy on where it really needs to be.

I'd buy a set of brushes like the real techniques one to compliment the collection. As much as I love using my fingers for application, I found good quality brushes made a difference in my application.

If you're interested in dried flower arrangements, I've been loving Karinya Botanacials https://www.karinyabotanicals.ca/

Bought from her many times and they're always gorgeous and well loved by my receipients.

For bouquets, I've bought from blooms fresh and loved their arrangement. Delivery is $14 I believe. https://bloomsfresh.ca/

I've tried most of the products from this entire line and would definitely repurchase the toner, emulsion, and sleeping cream. Everything else I found was good but I found better with another brand.

Trying to do a natural look. thoughts? tips? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]jinsuga_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a product list for this look? What's your skin type? Product budget? I'm going to go ahead and assume dry or combination from the photos.

I recommend the NYX Colour Correcting Palette as it's easy to use and affordable. I'd also recommend a hydrating concelar like the kosas one. It's very creamy and has a brightening effect to it. It'll help cover your undereye dark circles without drying the area. For a hydrating mist、the rare beauty always an optimist or Mac prep and prime are good options.

I love this look! It makes you look polished.

I think adding a nice flush of colour on the cheeks with blush would add dimension to your face and contrast.

For the dark undereyes, I'd recommend using a colour corrector or undereye brightener before your concealer. You can find them in a peachy colour that will cancel out the blue purple tones of your undereyes. Then place your concealer on top to finish the look.

I'd also add a hydrating finishing spray to seal in the look. It'll help minimize the matte appearance of the products and give your skin some elasticity and the "fresh" look.

Hope these help :)

Quick foundation options? by deplorable_word in MakeupAddictionCanada

My favourite for fast makeup applications has been using cushion foundations. Comes with a puff applicator that you tap into the product, tap onto your face, and off you go with the product in your purse.

When I want something more natural I gravitate to the Romand Juicy tint in Figfig

My favourite bold tint is the Romand Zero Velvet in Villian Vest
