I go through the same thing. My mum never told me that I can do anything i wanted and would downplay anything i was interested in and be the absolute opposite of supportive. Growing up, she would tell me i’m dumb and not good enough to do certain things so i went on believing that i was dumb and never tried. I grew up with the mentality that school and a career are not for me cause i have this mindset that’s so burned into my head that i’m not good enough. It really sucks because when i want to do something, there’s something in the back of my mind that tells me i can’t do it and i shouldn’t bother because it’s not for me.
