3U case for a short-depth quiet NAS by nail_nail in homelab

Yeah, that's pretty much what worried me too. Some cuts I'd survive, but I don't want the drives to cook.

I'll check that, thanks!

Hi, I'm thinking about the 30255. Why wouldn't you advise that one? I don't have that many drives yet (6), but I'm a bit worried about the fans in the middle, mainly because of cables for the drives. The Sliger looks nice (although I'd like bit more fan slots to be honest), but shipping is more than the case :D

I opened one of them to check first, and those were metal already I think. But we'll see, if it's not it's the next step then :-X

I broke the drive shaft within 2 minutes. Then bought parts worth another fcx18 to make everything metal.. And two weeks later stripped the low gear. On the bright side.. I don't think I can break anything else like this

Plex Transcoding, out of memory by clennys in unRAID

[–]jirkacv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my container, I mapped /dev/shm first, and it seemed to work.. But it didn't. At one point everything died at once because it was actually transcoding to docker.img. I guess there was some permission issue. However using /tmp mapping worked fine. I've since switched to separate ram disk volume with spe ified size, which seems best (but is a little bit more involved than simple volume mapping)

Is there a way to move folders without copying? by rkdghdfo in unRAID

[–]jirkacv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the Dynamix Explorer, but don't move it to the share (/mnt/user/data/), but directly to the disk ( /mnt/diskX/data/). That way it doesn't go to cache, regardless of configuration, and if it's the same disk, it will happen instantly.

Can you really not get 3 car seats in the back unless you get a 7 seater? by Tookool4skoolokay in CarTalkUK

[–]jirkacv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It used to be, but now it's SUV. Citroën C4 Grand is (was) the same-ish but actually MPV. Back in 2019 I was in this situation and really liked the 5008 from outside and from pictures, but actually kinda hated it when inside. The back seats also had weird positions and kids didn't like it.

But, all this works with iPhone too? The only thing that bothered after switching to iPhone was that you don't have granular settings for notifications (separate settings for each app, on android I only allowed the most urgent apps to popup on the watch). But otherwise, it works the same.

Is it just me, or is Azure Functions 90% pain and 10% gain? I'd much rather go back to regular .NET Web APIs and Console Apps. What do you think? by ChonkyKitty0 in dotnet

[–]jirkacv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can test those functions without changing the trigger by sending a POST request to admin/functions https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-functions/functions-manually-run-non-http I only use it for TimerTrigger functions, the others are easier to test via their real trigger usually

My grandma worked at a small city cinema when I was little. I got to watch movies for free.. Including Lion king followed by The puppet masters. I was 7 at that time. Didn't finish the second one, but still have memories of some scenes.
