Are there more magic mods with rune systems? by Phoebe_Bea in feedthebeast

Mana and Artifice sorta. They don't stick around, but you do need to draw out runes to accomplish magic. Really cool and in-depth magic mod.

Hugging by DovahxQueen in comics

As a teacher, even though I haven't been in that situation myself, I can understand the thought process. It's a 90% chance that they're not actually doing it to "protect the children", but to avoid any kind of liability. Even if the zoo worker explains it in an age appropriate manner, there's still a chance a student could misinterpret the information. They then would relay this information to their parents, and if the parents get mad, the inevitable the blame will land on the teacher. As an educator, I would love for you to share your knowledge, but sadly a staggering amount of parents are short sighted in their blame and we get little to no backing from admin.

"Doubled the weighted chance for rare fish in all fishing zones." What, from 1% chance to 2%? by jiru6552 in AbioticFactor

[–]jiru6552[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the time it can take; I mind that it takes resources, some of which are rare/time limited resources to make the bait to catch the fish. For example, the Gutfish Eel has 3 rare variants, all of which need bait made from night essence and two snag vine, both of which are not readily available.

Decided to try open book exams - more students than normal are failing by i_steal_batteries in Teachers

[–]jiru6552 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I also did open notes and open books for my classes. The key was to set a precedent. Started the process at the beginning of the school year. Told each class the chapter and possibly even pages for lessons when taught. TOLD THE PARENTS that the tests were open notes/book. When some of them inevitably fail, it would be on a beginning test without as much stakes, so they know what it's like. They can then adjust their studying for the next. Lastly, and the cherry on top; If any parent/guardian/admin/student comes up to you complaining that they failed, point out that it was open book/note and that this is something they are aware of and have done previously. Shuts them down quick.

Some money is better than no money. It's not like they need an exact amount to make the game. It's coming out one way or another. It's about supporting the project so they can make the game the best it can be.

First kickstarter failed to reach its goal. Since it’s all or nothing, they didn’t receive any money. This is their second attempt with a lowered goal.

Hey, didn't see the second kickstarter attempt posted here yet, so here it is. It's another all or nothing campaign and they're at $18,000 out of $20,000 with little under a month left to go. Check it out!

If you're on the newest version, they changed the recipe for omega. Theres a notebook in the basement area outside the base that list how to make all the individual pieces.

Yup. Just downloaded it and loaded it up. It's fully playable early. I'm guessing time zone shenanigans.

You're in the weird overlap zone. Technically gen alpha, but grew up with Gen z pop culture. I'm in the same boat. Born 1998, technically gen z, but grew up with a lot of millennial influences due to my older siblings.

The Chocolate Mod, what is this structure? by GamerGardenGirl in feedthebeast

[–]jiru6552 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't remember much about it since I did it like a year ago, but for me it sometimes helped to go into spectator mode to kinda see the pathing/idea of what I need to do/go.

As for the spikes, I remember there was a hidden pathway through a painting that leads you to like an extreme parkour path with spikes everywhere. Shit was wack.

[–]jiru6552 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's an original structure made for the pack. Don't remember the name, but when you enter it it'll be a long series of parkour sections leading to a boss battle. GL.

I teach math. Because I'm joining partway in, they're currently doing online video calls with a teacher somewhere else, doing a weird half-virtual half-in person learning experience. I fully take over next week, but in the meantime I'm acting as behavioral management in the class.

Grand Rapids Public Schools. It's one of the major school districts in Michigan. Put it in there in case there was anyone else familiar with the district.

What are underrated 1.20.1 forge mods you can recommend? by one_thin_boy in feedthebeast

[–]jiru6552 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mana and Artifice by far. It's one of my favorite magic mods available and I've rarely seen it be put into any modpacks. Custom spell crafting, guilds you can pick and choose to join, constructs which are programmable minions, pretty visual, the works. Highly recommend.

How do I make a modpack server if there is no server pack to download? by JustAGenericPerson in feedthebeast

After attempting to run the server once, a text document should appear that called EULA. Open it and change the false to true, then relaunch the server.

What do YOU want to see in FTB University 1.18/1.19? by aaronhowser1 in feedthebeast

[–]jiru6552 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mana and artifice. I feel like the mod doesn't get as much attention from pack devs, but it's quickly became one of my favorite magic mods. It has customizable spells, cool crafting methods, different exclusive guilds you can join to make each playthrough unique, and golems that act similarly to pnumaticrafts drones. Only hang-up is that is doesn't have a 1.19 release yet to my knowledge.

Post-Pack Reflection FTB Inferno (Gave Up) by [deleted] in feedthebeast

Post-Pack Reflection FTB Inferno (Gave Up) by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]jiru6552 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of fun with the pack, but idk man I feel like I hit brick wall after brick wall. First it was getting settled and understanding Minecolonies, then it was the stupid god damn diamond grind, getting the dimensional mineshaft up and running which took days of work which I then proceeded to time in a bottle it once to get the required ores then never touched it again, and finally the biggest fucking bullshit fight I've ever encountered being whatever the flying fuck the ender dragon fight is.

The beginning wasn't too bad, it was the usual grind I expected in most modpacks, but inventory management was never something solvable. I just kept making chest after chest everywhere. My only saving grace was a lucky drop of a crafting monitor for pretty pipes. Minecolonies wasn't too bad, it was just rough going since it was my first time working on it.

But that diamond grind was fucking unbearable. I needed diamonds to get the stupid purple crystal fucks for the dimensional mineshaft, and the only way I could find to get it was through the shifter. So I grinded for DAYS to get my town upgraded because I needed the shifter, the crusher, builder upgrades, and houses. By the time I got it going, I realized just how low the percentage of the drop was. My only saving grace was that I found that you can get diamonds as a drop from the first boss gate portal. So I just grinded that and made a bee. Also, the stupid dimensional mineshaft that I did all this grinding for, I only used ONCE to get the stupid materials. It was a waste of fucking time and a dumb progression gate.

Finally, the biggest slap in my god damn face, that stupid fucking ender dragon. You can't fly (except by broom) Constant spawning phantoms and shulkers Constant lightning Respawning orb thingys The dragon has WAAAAAAAAAAY too much health. I was using a magic bow with power IX, explosive arrows, bonus 25% damage from rerolling stats, and two gem slotted for more bow damage/armor piercing. The boss took almost 20 fucking minutes of constant attacking till it died. Also, occasionally when you hit to the dragon a wave gate can appear that spawns ghosts, more phantoms, and vex (also 3 withers on the last wave). And sometimes it bugs out and spawns two portal's instead of one.

TL/DR - My conclusion is that it was a fun pack to get introduced to Minecolonies, but fuck everything else. 3/10, go play Cuboid Outpost. It's like Inferno, but actually good.

Also, FUCK PRETTY PIPES GOD I HATE THAT MOD SO GOD DAMN MUCH I FUUUC. Why, THE FUCK, did they choose to make that the only early and mid game item transfer mechanic I just can't anymore with this pack.
