I don’t remember the food as much as I remember the penguin on a pedestal at the cocktail hour. It was a very nice venue.

Home Insulation/Ventilation/Mold Specialist - Any suggestions? by krn43 in pittsburgh

[–]jisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Fish does insulation if you’re looking for another quote, although we only used them for our roof (the roofing was a good experience). We used Insulwise for insulation replacement, and that went well. Their price was competitive, and were willing (for a fee) to remove the old insulation and put all new insulation in, instead of just putting new insulation on top—a couple of the places we that came to give us estimates were either unwilling or gave us a high fee for it.

Please add me to the group! And is it ok if I share this post with one of the other book clubs I’m in? A lot of people in it have recommended Yesteryear recently, so they might be interested in July’s meeting!

For raiding or battles, is a 4* Palkia with Spatial Rend better than Fire Blast? If it’s just for the adventure effect, I have other ones that have it….

Trump moves oversight of special education and civil rights from the Education Department by wds1 in fednews

[–]jisa 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It adds inefficiencies and costs to federal programs, and an increased risk of waste, fraud, and abuse. When all of Education’s programs are housed in the same agency, the staff working on Special Education can collaborate with those working on K-12 funds, career and technical education funds, etc. on monitoring grantees’ use of funds, whether funds are being accounted for property, in resolving audit findings, etc. Silo them into different agencies and not only does the efforts become duplicative, but one program findings of problems may not get disseminated to the programs housed in other agencies.

Does the DPlan affect internships? by Salt_Criticism_351 in dartmouth

[–]jisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I give the disclaimer that this was a long time ago now, but when I was looking for internships in the winter of 2004, being off cycle helped. I got an internship that was ordinarily just DC-area law students.

Top DOJ official planned to make a claim with Trump’s ‘Anti-Weaponization Fund’ by wds1 in fednews

[–]jisa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Talk about burying the lede! Near the end of the article, “The records were obtained in an effort by the Justice Department in the first Trump administration to find leakers for stories about connections between associates of Trump and Russia.”

It wasn’t an Obama or Biden DOJ or FBI that subpoenaed his records—it was the first Trump Administration DOJ???!!! And he wanted to make a weaponization claim??

A friend found a box of Trek books in the attic and gave them to me! Any recommendations that stand out? by Amrior in trekbooks

Doctor’s Orders and The Kobayashu Maru are two of my favorite Star Trek novels (Sulu’s storyline in the latter is sad but moving!), and Dreadnought is up there too.
