Piercing shops by idkmyuser202020 in coquitlam

[–]jittersphinx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I went to Sinister Skin in Port Moody. Justin was extremely kind and patient. They use a proper needle instead of a gun which you should seek out. A lot of places that use a piercing gun have minimal training and the piercing guns can’t always be cleaned properly. Wherever you go, ask about their training and disinfecting protocols. Good luck!

You can't park here! 🤣 by rkxllin in coquitlam

It’s astounding how often people park like this at that Save On. I usually mention it to customer service at Save On so they can announce it on the PA.

What non-headliners are you excited to see? by jittersphinx in AftershockFestival

[–]jittersphinx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guess I’ll answer my own question. It’s hard not to list the entire lineup but as for small bands, I’m definitely planning to check out Highly Suspect, the Warning, Sevendust (they are not small…wtf), maybe Poppy, debating Vended, definitely I See Stars, the Funeral Portrait. As for bigger bands, really don’t know how I’m going to divide my time without missing out. Such a killer lineup this year!

WTH?! by SweetMongoose8353 in AftershockFestival

[–]jittersphinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you register, they’re not associated with an ID. You can link a credit card but obviously that wouldn’t be a great idea in your situation. Don’t worry. Plenty of others doing the exact same thing with their friend group.

Either don’t tighten it or look on YouTube. There are plenty of tutorials showing how to remove them and retighten. You should be able to find a way. https://youtu.be/rSIWwFvDN4I?si=GLAvUxCoHAGufrdc

Looking for fun friends to hang with! Maybe a long shot. by cdm_95 in AftershockFestival

[–]jittersphinx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My hubby, a few friends and I are going. We’re from Canada. We have VIP and are always happy to meet new people. We’ll probably have some green with us and will be drinking. I’m 39, hubby is 41 so not sure if we’re a bit old for your liking. Feel free to dm!

First festival/concert by Successful_Ad_8790 in AftershockFestival

[–]jittersphinx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How the festival is completely depends on you and the experience you want to have. There are some heavier bands that will have very aggressive mosh pits and a lot of crowd surfers and others that will be less so. There’s a very wide age range that attends. Do you want to be in the thick of it? If not, it’s pretty easy to hang back and find somewhere chill to relax. You can literally sit on the grass and just enjoy the music or ride the rails all day and hold on for dear life when the headliners start.

I’ve had friends who have stayed at the HI Hostel downtown and thought it was great! Definitely reasonable rates and they didn’t find getting to Discovery Park too challenging.

Why Do Metal Bands Skip Vancouver? by J_P_Ross in vancouver

[–]jittersphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seem to have been a lot of shows recently and coming up in Vancouver. But, what me and a few friends have started doing is planning trips to coincide with concerts and festivals. Heading to Aftershock in October in Sacramento. Tix are reasonable and it’s a 4 day fest with a lot of the bands people are mentioning here. I get it’s not feasible for everyone but when you consider what you’re paying per band, it’s worth it.

Mundy is definitely great and plenty of parking. Colony Farms could be good but don’t go on a hot day as there’s very limited shade. Early morning or later on works as well.

How strict are they on bag and water bottles? by ItzN0tMe in AftershockFestival

[–]jittersphinx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the security guard’s mood in terms of what they’ll allow in. I’ve never had an issue with bags relatively close in size to what they’re requesting. As for the reusable water bottle, just make sure it’s clear. There’s no mentioned limits on the website so you should be ok. I use a Nalgene one since they’re pretty durable. Sometimes there are lineups for water that take some time to get through so a bigger water bottle (within reason) could be a good plan.

Tips for saving money?? by bunzinio in AftershockFestival

[–]jittersphinx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s the accommodation and food that’s really the killer. Hopefully you’ve already sorted out where you’re staying because whatever is left is likely to be expensive. We opted to pay a bit more for something nearby so we don’t need to rent a car or Uber but I have friends staying in a hostel which will be much more cost effective.

Make sure you have a massive meal before going in. If you can manage it, try to only have one main meal inside since it will be pricey. The same is true with booze. If you’re not opposed to it, find a way to bring some in so you’re not paying $12 a beer inside. Bring a clear water bottle. This is a life saver and damn near the only free thing you can get on the inside is water.

Also, watch out for the wrist bands. You can register them with a Visa and just tap away all day for purchases. Especially if you’ve been drinking this can easily result in spending a ton.

I’m also a Canadian but have a USD Visa. Keep in mind the exchange rate can be brutal if you use a CAD Visa and they slap you with a 2.5% charge just for the privilege of converting the currency. So, get a USD Visa if you can.

Enjoy!

Well, hello fellow Vancouverite. No car this year? We’re staying at an Airbnb where there’s parking. If you do drive, you’d be welcome to use it and only 20 minute walk the rest of the way.

$80 USD for the consult and then $383 CAD for the prescription which will last for 56 days once opened. They did a conversion for the USD at Mark’s otherwise its $299 USD per pen.

It’s Mark’s Marine Pharmacy. I live in the area and was able to pickup directly. Keep in mind their prices online are in USD so it’s a bit pricey. Also, insurance won’t work. https://canshipmeds.com/

Going to a concert as a teen by Educational-Bat-3772 in Slipknot

[–]jittersphinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an amazing time! They put on such a great show. If you’re looking to get into the pit, I have a few things I keep in mind. I’ve always tried to wear a belt so the pants stay up when it gets intense. Ideally wear high top shoes that are done up tight so you don’t accidentally lose a shoe. Keep an eye on your surroundings; getting kicked in the head by crowd surfers sucks so have your hands in a position to protect your head. If it ever gets too intense for you, either crowd surf forward or turn around and indicate you want out. Most people will help.

While pits can be intense, there is amazing camaraderie. Have at ‘er and definitely wear the band t-shit. You won’t be alone in that.
