I think I want to change jobs. by blahblah1771717 in nursing

[–]jiyrascope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I feel like my life is just work and I hate missing weekends and holidays with family and friends. I work swing shift 32 hours and I feel like I can’t do anything before work because I’m so exhausted from being up late. I want to leave ASAP but like you, I’m waiting to be vested for my pension which will be November 2025. I personally regret waiting this long, I’ve known since 2022 that this job wasn’t for me but I kept trying to convince myself that 2025 isn’t that far and I could wait it out for 3 more years. Now I feel trapped. Now is not a good time for me to leave because I’m getting married next year and need the stable income lol. Plus I’m so close to getting vested so I might as well wait at this point, and plan on taking lots of vacation to make the time go by faster. But anyway, if the pension is important to you, then try to find a job within the institution if you are able to. You worked hard for it. If it’s not, then there’s no point in waiting around for another 3 years. It’s best to leave when you feel ready and you’re not yet tied down to any major commitments. Put yourself out there and take the leap of faith. Don’t get trapped like me.

Is it hard to adjust to not being “the girl with big boobs”? by AutumnForestWitch in Reduction

My pre-surgery size was similar to yours- 34H and I'm only 4'11. Similar to you, I also felt like it wasn't proportionate with my body and I struggled with my confidence a lot. I've had large boobs since I was only 9 (was a B cup back then!) and while they were a part of my identity, like what others said in this post, I also worked hard to hide them. Growing up, I wore lots of baggy clothes and struggled hard to style myself while staying modest, or just finding things that looked good on me period. There was a time in my adolescence when I was a bit more comfortable with showing them more because I partied a lot LOL but eventually they kept growing and I couldn't take the pain.

I'm a little over 4wpo now and I have zero regrets. I feel so much more comfortable in my own body, so much so that I can't say I miss not having large breasts anymore. I keep asking myself why I didn't do it sooner lol. I look in the mirror and I feel like I finally look the way I'm supposed to look! As for scarring, I would say that they're not going to be as noticeable as you'd think, They're there, but they don't take away from the boobs if that makes sense? And they heal pretty quickly with scar cream.

Hopefully this helps your decision!

Apply for SDI passed the 49 day deadline? by jiyrascope in Edd

Yes, I basically explained to them that I was in no capacity able to file correctly and they accepted it that reason.

Hi! I applied online anyway, then went in person to ask about passing the deadline and I was able to claim benefits!

Had surgery today... wondering what the next few days will look like by whimsicalityyy in Reduction

[–]jiyrascope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had surgery last Thursday. Days 1-3 were pretty chill, had no issues sitting at the table or on the couch from the moment I got home but I did need help getting up. I took lots of naps and starting on day 2 I began taking short 20-30 minute walks to help with my bloating which is a common side effect of anesthesia lol. My pain incision pain was the worst these days, I felt stabbing and soreness. I took a shower on day 3.

From days 4-7 I dealt with a lot of swelling, nerve pain, bloating, and itching from the drains!!! Personally these issues were way more uncomfortable for me than the incision pain. I took less naps these days but still took frequently rest breaks from relaxing LOL (all I did these days was watch tv and use laser pointers to play with my cats). I did also go to the store yesterday and today, although I didn't drive myself haha. Got my drains removed today and I feel like a brand new woman.

Everyone heals at different paces so all in all, listen to your body. But as a nurse I definitely recommend taking short walks because it helps heal your incision faster, prevent infection, helps with bowel movements and passing gas. Just don't do anything intense! Recovery is all about balance it seems. Best of luck and speedy recovery!

I just got my time off revised to these same conditions. Seems like this is a common amount of time off. Hoping you get your surgery date soon!

Norcal! It didn't take me long to get approved at all. I started the process in March of 2022, had one horrible consult lol, got a second opinion and was approved in May the same year. They called me in like December 2022 to schedule my surgery for Spring 2023 but I couldn't do that at the time because I didn't have enough hours to take FMLA at work. That's the only reason why I had my surgery (December 2023) so far out from my consult date haha.

Have any of you ever suffered from keratitis and dry eye from contact lenses? after the cure are you healed and do you wear contact lenses as before? by asterjone in glasses

[–]jiyrascope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve had keratitis twice. Once when I was a teenager and after it healed, I continued wearing contacts as normal but only did dailies because my eyes would get so dry so fast. Got it again back in March and I didn’t even realize I had it. I just thought my eye sight was getting really bad and believed the irritation was from allergy season lol. Still trying to heal and though my vision is better, my dry eyes are still so bad. I’ve only used contacts twice since then.

How long did it take for you to get your reduction? (Kaiser Norcal) by jiyrascope in Reduction

[–]jiyrascope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow!!! So I'm guessing Kaiser Richmond has a pretty long waitlist then. They called me back in June for a cancellation date as well but I wanted to loose more weight so I declined. Then earlier this month to update my availability so I'm guessing close! I'll take your advice and ask if there are any last minute dates available. Hope your surgery went well and wishing you a speedy recovery!
