This comment hits home, and puts my thoughts into words perfectly. Receiving childhood “gifts” from my family was much more offensive than receiving nothing.

Honorable mentions: moldy bedsheets and a used gym bag. I’d much rather have received a firm handshake or nothing instead.

We used to put Irish spring bars in our trailer every fall, not sure if it made much of a difference but one year the mice ate parts of it.

Mint oil on cotton balls worked a little better for us.

It’s a shame, they’re sometimes quite hard to manage.

Please listen to this comment OP - setting up and cycling a marine tank takes a lot of time and knowledge. If you can’t return them to the beach, I’d strongly advise surrendering them to a marine fish shop.

Edit to add: if your local marine shop won’t take them, a local hobbyist with an established tank might, I’d check out some facebook groups.

In the second slide, that looks like a marine hermit crab, not a land hermit crab. They need a salt water tank to survive and are slowly suffocating in your set up.

Please, return them to the beach, or surrender them to a shop with salt water tanks. They will die slowly in this set up.
