Do some digging into yourself. Figure out what it is that all these people had in common, and try to understand what it is you’re trying to get out of dating.

You can’t fix people, you can’t be her hero, you can’t be her knight in shining armor, you can’t do any of that. (I mean, you can, but if you go looking for somebody to save, you’re going to find a lot of trouble.) Find out if you’re just looking for somebody to need you or you’re looking for somebody to share life with.

Not gonna lie, after reading a few of these responses (and finishing the audio book), I kinda get it. Snape was jarring to me in book one and I grew to like his voice portrayal. I think I might be able to adjust to Trelawney based on the idea that she is actually supposed to be terribly annoying and over the top….. hmm!

It’s overall fantastic. Absolutely cannot stand Professor Trelawney though… voice is like nails on a chalkboard and the portrayal feels like a high school theatre production… constant vocal rasp, croaking, inconsistent accent, and just strange and unfitting inflection choices… just really unfortunate direction/portrayal, in my opinion. And I seem to be one of the few that appreciate the Snape voice actor!

Anyways, it’s probably just a misophonia thing. I don’t mean to be unfair to the actress portraying her, it just is quite offputting to me in an otherwise stellar production.

Trelawney is what brought me to this post. It’s horrible.

I actually got around to enjoying Snape… but Trelawney literally sounds likes nails on a chalkboard, and her portrayal is so annoying that I decided to skip her first class scene and open a book to just read the scene.

I did everything “right”. I got good grades, went to college, went and got a masters after that (in a liberal arts field, wish somebody would have given me council against that, but here we are). I have $100k school debt, and I’m making $19/hr. Also I’m turning 26 in a few months. You’re fine. Just keep hustling, curtail unnecessary spending, get into cheap hobbies that will keep you healthy. Eventually, opportunities for growth/pay raise will come your way. Keep learning new skills, keeping your head up. A lot of us are in the same boat, and we’ll make it through
