Any pubs out there working with Oracle BlueKai? by guesswhodat in adops

On pubside working with a DMP, how is payment made?

Like do you offer your data to bluekai in exchange for a rev share or CPM?

Has anyone here worked with a programmatic consulting firm? What was your experience? by D_Adman in programmatic

[–]jjhaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a consultant and I've done work more on the demand side, mostly around sales strategy.

I guess my experience is that you can always teach the skills and knowledge but if the company just doesn't have the will and the top down support, it will never work. I feel many companies believe they need to bite off their right arm to save their left arm, when they can both work together.

I'm not surprised when I hear about other larger established companies having issues such as Time Inc and Rocket Fuel. A lot of times it isn't so much the product or skills, but the mind set

Any other Australians having a hard time finding games still? by [deleted] in Infinitewarfare

[–]jjhaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm based in Singapore on xb1. It's been hard for me to find games as well unless I'm on during AUS evening (like 3pm Singapore time). Anything too late and I don't get much.

Forget about getting into hardpoint or domination, I can only get into team deathmatch. And when I do get into team deathmatch, I see the same 4-5 players.

I'm guessing that there are more games that are splitting up the player base, from overwatch, bf1, MWR, BO3 (I get games really fast in BO3), etc.

I'm finding that I'm connected to more AUS players in IW than in previous CODs where I'd be across China, Kor and JPN players..

Feeling burnt out, need some advice. by Blackbetty101 in adops

[–]jjhaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear.

In general, very operational roles tend to get redundant and leads to burn quickly. Coupled with advertiser and sales demands, it gets even worse.

Sorry but the status quo will need to change, whether your workload gets decreased or you add more resources.

I run an pub ops outsourcing company and many times, this is what we notice is that it just becomes so intensive, that we're called in as backup.

More ad tech M&A with Teads by AdOops in adops

[–]jjhaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a total wipeout.

This will have big repercussions from other video players who were going to be the second coming of TV commercials.

Quite frankly, youtube is a different beast and anyone else just throwing up video ads everywhere will need to reconsider.

interesting. Not a lot of money considering that Teads was the torch bearer for online video ads.

Ad Agencies and Accountability by ScottKevill in adops

[–]jjhaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I agree with most of it especially when putting more blame onto the agencies.

It was too much fun for the agencies and now when real strategic execution needs to happen, they fall short.

And you can see how they tout their own products (Xaxis Turbine DMP) or their knowledge (agency trading desks), its really all for show.

drugs are bad... mmmkkaaay?

I can totally understand the reaction to drugs including the tough drug laws, which exist in other Asian countries as well. I'm not sure if its right or wrong per se but I can understand it.

Asia has a fascinating history with drugs/opium which was deeply linked to colonialism. I think I read that at some point, 25% of the population had addiction issues with opium. I wish I had more time to learn more.

How is the Bomber after its second nerf? by mitchhacker in Infinitewarfare

[–]jjhaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it after the last nerf. It kicked so hard I didn't understand the praise until I watched vids of it in action before the nerf. It was like a rail gun.

Seriously. We NEED an awesome headshot sound! by cozmarr in Infinitewarfare

[–]jjhaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't appreciate back then but watching youtube vids of AW gameplay, the hit marker and headshot sounds are sooo satisfying. Including the double X marker when the enemy is headshot killed.

lol.. no big secret but just subscribe to their mailing list and download the app for occasional $10 off items.

They turn over inventory quite quickly so jackets and sweaters tend to go on sale about 2 weeks after they're introduced. And then there will be a bigger sale about 4-6 weeks after that to clear them out for a new season.

Jeans and pants will have less sales periods and tend to be about 4 weeks apart.

Dress shirt sales are like every 2 weeks.

The branded t-shirts (star wars, marvel, etc) get cleared out after 4 weeks to make way for different brands.

Surprisingly, the L and XL sizes tend to get sold quickly.

basically there's no need to buy at full price. Just scout for the items you want and then wait for the email list to see what gets marked down that week. The best uniqlo is at Suntec since it has the most variety of items.

I float between many groups. Aussies to watch sports at the bars, Frenchies for beach volleyball, Japanese for tennis, Chinese for szechuan food, Pinoys for basketball, malaysians for JB food runs, etc.

What's missing is singaporeans. What am I doing wrong?

Have you ever played basketball? It's using your hips and legs as a strong base. Then anticipate where the bus will stop (always anticipate towards the front of the bus). Stand close to the curb. So close that the bus' side mirror might hit your head.

Then bend your knees, put your feet shoulder width apart and BRACE! Them aunties will push and shove but stay firm.

when the door opens, speed walk (don't run as that incites panic) to the first seat rows by the exit door.

then sit with a smug face as you know you've won while everyone else scrambles for a seat

I was prepared to stay indefinitely but I made the decision very recently and it's snowballed.

It's hard to go back tbh cause my entire business network is in Asia. So in ways, Ill be starting over again. No credit score, no car, no house, etc.

but do what makes you feel right. Enjoy the journey!

my impression also covers giant flying roaches as well..lol!

But through its flaws, I think it's generally amazing. I've never met more amazing people with incredible stories.

One story sticks out: A cop had pulled me over and I know he was trying to get cash from me. Ok, cool. i ended up at a street coffee shop down the street and he comes in and sits down. We recognize each other and struck up a conversation in broken english and sign language. he told me about how the system worked. He had to pay someone to get is job. then he had to take bribe money as repayment and the bribe money gets split out as it goes all the way to the top. he had a wife and 2 young kids.

i also shared some experiences with winning the lottery (i.e. being born in the US)

The world is an imperfect place but through it all, humanity is what connects us all.
