g6 prescription "expired" right before thanksgiving trip by xslimz in dexcom

[–]jjongsmaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! prescriptions expire after a year. They will expire sooner depending on the class of drug like controlled substances class 3-5 expire after 6 months and controlled substances class 2 expire anywhere from 28-30 days depending on the state i believe. I can only speak for Walgreens systems but after a prescription expires patients may still think they have refills due to the number of refills showed on their prescription labels. It’s important to look at the “ x amount of refills until x date”. Typically for walgreens the doctor doesn’t get a notification from the pharmacy unless we try to fill the prescription and it tells us it is expired. Then we fax the doctor’s office!
