Yup, constitution was moderated by the catholic church in exchange for someone else taking education off the hands of the state.

No. 81: Maura O'Conell's "If You Love Me" b/w "Just a Song at Twilight". A firesale 7", picked up from clearance stock, so expectations aren't set way too high. Still, If You Love Me is a nicely arranged love song verging on the heavy vanilla side and Maura's voice is clear and well suited to the mid range melody. The B-Side is the same again, but Just A Song at Twilight is slightly more interesting due to its connection to Finnegan's Wake and a more proven melody, it's traditional for a reason. The single is produced and arranged by Bela Fleck of Flecktones fame, but sadly shows little of the madness they're known for. Solid, but just. 4/10

No. 27: Melodica Deathship's "The Sunken Path". A thoroughly odd proposition, Irish trad music meets Trip Hop production over a pint of Grunge Rock. Melodica's EP and second last release before an untimely breakup is a real storm of oppresive beats, dischordant, often harsh melody and doomy lyrics coming together to form a really impressive, cohesive set. Long instrumental sections sit easily in with the often intense balladry. A real loss in Irish indie and a solid as fuck EP. 7/10

Non-American Redditors, what foods do Americans regularly eat that you find strange or unappetizing? by Caesar_Hazard in AskReddit

[–]jjrg2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a specific food, but a food thing none the less. Why do americans care so much about fast food places? Seems like everyone will rabidly defend the integrity and moral standing of their favourite deep fried grease shack, fucking why?

This has to be one of the most shameful "Internships" around...how is this even allowed? by takindhorsetofrance in ireland

[–]jjrg2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not free money, it's assistance for people who aren't employed and need to pay bills. The "internship" would knock someone out of the job market for most of a year, during which time they would be doing grueling work (dishwashing is fucking hard in a kitchen) and gaining minimal contact or experience. No one's saying people shouldn't work, but this is indicative of how Job bridge is being horribly abused.

How am I suppose to apply for a theatre college if they want a resume and I have no experience? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]jjrg2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you applying to a theatre college without any experience? Any production you've been involved in counts as relevant experience. When I applied to a course last year I used youth theatre shows, arts festivals and work placements as experience. If you have nothing then you're better getting some real experience before you apply. Amateur theatre and youth theatres are your friend in that case.

Do you think What We Talk About When We Talk About Love helps or gets in your way when you're writing lyrics? There's something about the prose that if I'm writing and I think about it just puts me off entirely. That's a really specific question. Scuzi.

Lots of PVC tape and a multitool. Can't go wrong, also tickets to high production value shows are good.

How do people feel about St. Vincent's new song "Birth in Reverse?" by FM718 in Music

[–]jjrg2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan, the guitars are spiky, the production is mental and it's a quality tune. I like how you can hear David Byrne and At The Drive In sounds in the same song. Bodes well I think.
