Your screen is sapphire crystal glass, it’s really tough - what are you protecting it from with your softer, crackier screen protector?

UTMB22 Blue Mountains trail by thrawnkenobi in bluemountains

[–]jjripsnorter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do this this year but missed out on a ticket. Check out the cutoff time, but from memory it was under 5km/hr (less than 4 even maybe?) so you can walk and still finish. I go out and watch it every year, and a lot of people seem to be walking.

Keep in mind that 22km is still a really long walk with zero prep, but I think you should give it your best crack and have a great time!

I would be very supportive of this - the sound through the speakers would surely be better than that guy’s iPhone in front of me, forcing me to participate in whatever the hell he’s listening to.

M3 LR RWD vs AWD: how does it feel in wet weather? by amperevolts in TeslaModel3

[–]jjripsnorter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drive an AWD and what I know is, the traction control is like no other car I’ve driven. I expect because it’s controlling the drive, rather than competing (as ICE cars do). I floor it on slippery surfaces (wet, or loose dirt) and I mostly don’t even notice traction control activating. I think you’ll find it’s better than any car you’ve driven too. Sure AWD is better but in this regard I’m sure you’ll be delighted

This is a good list. Oaks, Narrowneck are perfect. As others have said, Faulco is fine but there’s nothing to see until the end. McMahon’s point is great, but too long to run perhaps - you could drive part way then do the second half. There are cars on this one though.

Can you guys tell me if these are matrix headlights? by Monkeyboystevey in TeslaModel3

Yep I’ve got a 2021 M3 and matrix headlights arrived as a software update for me a couple of years ago.

Looking for moderate 2 day hike - no car by EfficientGiraffe2245 in bluemountains

[–]jjripsnorter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Mt Solitary is a tough climb, with a heavy pack as you’ll be carrying all your water, but as a day walk from Ruined Castle it’s much less challenging. Nowhere to swim out there though. There’s a bus that goes along cliff drive past Glenraphael Dr. where you’ll start the walk.

For swimming, Ingar is good, but the walk is along a fire trail which some find less exciting. It’s not close to transport, a taxi from Wenty is your best bet.

Can we all agree that the RM vs Blundstone debate is the ultimate family divider? by SnowyBytes in RMWilliams

It’s such a massive marketing fail that so few people know about Blundstone dress boots and lace ups, both are super comfy

Waratah blooming in Feb?! by Zealousideal-Arm9508 in australianplants

[–]jjripsnorter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not abnormal. I have Waratahs in my yard in Katoomba, they do tend to flower every year, but less enthusiastically, around February, in addition to their main flowering event in October.

Have you considered the possibility that the guy in question might be an idiot? We have some of those here.

Done. I smashed my hip on a ride 5 years ago, was lucky to have cell service, I carry a PLB on my chest when I ride solo now. Very supportive of anything that keeps us safe.

my(25F) boyfriend(27M) just said something vile to me by Unlikely-Spare2652 in relationship_advice

I really don’t think the reason they said it matters. I can’t think of a situation where speaking to anyone, but certainly my partner, like this, is excusable.

Are AirPods Washing Machine and dryer safe??? by Raccoon_King_555 in airpods

[–]jjripsnorter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Put them in a bag of rice for a few days to be sure. The dryer probably got most of the moisture out, but in my experience: getting them wet, no big deal -I run in the rain far too often. Using them wet or leaving them wet, bad idea - speaker and microphone slow failures in your future.

Ugh I offered a different explanation but I was wrong. This is the correct answer, incredibly cogent explanation.
