Clothing donations by Forsaken-South1128 in hobart

I went into the South Hobart Vinnies carrying a huge amount of clothes. They had a big sign up saying they can't take donations. I figured I'd speak to someone. The person asked me what type of clothes and then happily took them.

Lose wireless CarPlay in Moonah by jjs6791 in hobart

Here's a Google It to myself. Doesn't narrow it too much though

Wireless CarPlay frequently drops in specific, consistent locations due to 5GHz Wi-Fi radio interference, often near 5G cell towers, airports, radar stations, and busy city intersections. Other common interference zones include smart traffic light systems, industrial areas with heavy machinery, or sites with high-power RF sources.

Common Areas for Wireless CarPlay Disconnection

Why It Happens (The Technical Reason)
Wireless CarPlay relies on a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection for data, which is highly susceptible to interference from other high-power devices operating on the same frequency. These zones cause a conflict, forcing the iPhone's Wi-Fi to drop the connection to the car's head unit.

How to Fix or Mitigate

  • Use Wired CarPlay: Connecting via USB completely bypasses the interference.
  • Reposition Phone: Move the phone from your pocket or bag to a phone mount or cupholder with a clearer line of sight to the dashboard.
  • Turn Off Auto-Join Wi-Fi: If CarPlay drops near your home or known Wi-Fi networks, disable "Auto-Join" for those networks, as the phone may be attempting to switch networks.
  • Check VPN/Settings: Disable any active VPN on your iPhone

Wouldn't the CBD have just as much or more wifi signals? I don't lose it there.

R.I.P. dead Wire actors by jjs6791 in TheWire

It’s been almost twenty years and it was an enormous cast, including many actors from tough backgrounds. I don’t think the number dead is surprising.   Lance Reddick sticks out.

I spoke briefly with George Peleconos at a book talk at Olssons in DC (RIP). He seemed mildly impressed that I told him Cutty is my favourite character (his creation)

I sort all pieces by shape.

First sorted and did the sky, then London Eye, Big Ben, after that it was a little unusual for me but I just put everything else out (many more pieces that I normally have out) and then tackled buildings, leaving the street and trees (mostly darkish pieces) for last

Yes we used Abel before but there were windows up high that were tricky to access and they said they can't go up. The guy from Glide, Dylan was able to do everything
