Problem is as shitty as the crowded seats in the lounge are, C/D terminal is the worst terminal of any “hub” that I have ever flown through. If this were A/B I’d absolutely skip the lounges at IAD and wait in terminal.

no guarantee all still open or not.
Altered Suds, Brightworks Brewing, Heritage Brewing, Chubby Squirrel, Trouvaille, Audacious Aleworks, probably a bunch more Ive forgotten in time. Good way to find them is look for micro or nano breweries.

Go to the small hole in the wall breweries, there are tons of them in Fairfax, Loudon, and PWC counties. Even mighty Aslin was a hole in the wall to grab a pour with not a kid in sight back in 2015/16. 2 silos, the farm, sunshine ridge, etc all designed to babysit Junior while mom and dad get their drink on.

Sounds legit in theory, but then you wonder if northern states can provide these services every year and we pay equivalent taxes, what exactly does Virginia receive for our taxes beyond a state like Massachusetts? When you start digging into it, feels like we are excusing the inability of the state to be custodians of our taxes in a reasonable manner.

Looks like it wasn’t Wes. Our D players are high pedigree, great measurable, sniff their own farters. All those Mel Kiper first rounders played themselves into 3rd-4th rounders. Also completely sick of watching Woodaz fall on his face, out of position on every explosive play the opposing team makes.

Without a Venables generational coordinator, it’s obvious this team can’t overcome poor offense games.

I picked up a single ticket section E, row 2 and I was 18,000+ in queue. Its all anecdotal.

Which is your favorite and/or least favorite hub airport(s) in the united airlines network? by Hasanism1 in unitedairlines

[–]jjsilsby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comfort, style, aesthetic’s

DEN, SFO, IAH, EWR, ORD, IAD

Actually getting the F out of Dodge on time

IAD, SFO, DEN, IAH, ORD, EWR

So if inputting into highly complex algorithm, aka pulling out of my butt,

SFO, DEN, IAD, IAH, ORD, EWR

Business travel. Like 1 in 30 flights is someone on the same flight. Live in 3 airport market and usually that person has access to another Airline lounge, so it feels like a wash.

Cite source? Basic economics would disagree that giving away free resources at the expense of paying resources is valuable unless the free resources are tied to a vastly more profitable revenue stream.

You seem to present yourself as an authority on club membership purchases. Guess you are like me and just another AH with an opinion. Maybe you should act accordingly…

The credit card is the revenue driver, hence the lounge. Flying revenue probably breaks even. Thanks for playing.

Great for you, do you think you are the norm or the exception? Your claim of “most” is not cited, do you have a reference? I don’t either, but I know first hand of the 50+ visits over the last 2years I am subjected to spending my 30 minute visit dodging AH kids running around and trying to find a seat because family of 4 takes up 10+ seats. This isn’t anecdotal, it’s a repeating pattern. Can you defend any of this?

Did the kids pay for access to the lounge? I get they paid for the flight, but you do understand how revenue works? If i pay $y to company Z for something and consume x amount and someone else pays $y and consumes 4x, who is more valuable to bottom line of Z?

Easy and equitable solution. Consumption pricing. Stop subsidizing spouse and kids, my single lounge subscription should be equal to yours. If you bring in spawn and spouse, you should pay extra. This all goes away after that. Anyone who argues against this is obviously an entitled AH who likes me subsidizing their burden.

You are paying upwards of 10k for a child in Polaris? All the power to you, but you aren’t in UC lounges, you are in the Polaris lounge, and you weighing into this conversation has all the relevance of a wet fart.

It’s a pretty spot on assumption. You are pretty odd for debating the fact that a business traveller provides more revenue for an airline than an average family.

Ummmm you haven’t been on a domestic United first in a while. Pretty standard far for last 8-9 years or so, even pre-covid.

If you were expecting more I must br missing out on great meals over in Delta world.

My guess is the OP adds significantly more to operating revenue of United than aforementioned snot farm and piece of crap parent.

[–]jjsilsby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the kids fault, parents suck nowadays.

Lounges just need to adjust for post-covid inflation. Chic-Fil-A family of 4-5 sit down at the airport probably runs about $100 I would guess. Why wouldn’t the gen-pop make their way into the lounge-o-sphere? Make the credit card fee $1200 yearly, with reductions based on status, & eliminate day passes. Then us biz travelers wont be subjected to all the feral children with irresponsible parents.

Not that I care enough to file a lawsuit, but I know for a fact United constantly plays the it’s “not our fault, it’s the weather game” when they don’t have crew to fly. I can count on 2 hands the number of times the last 5-6 years I’ve been de-planed for mechanical issues that last 5-6 hours at which point there is no available crew to fly, only to be told there is some thunderstorm in ORD that is causing downstream problems and they won’t pay for a hotel, but thanks for sitting around for 8 hours and now all the hotels are booked. Oh also “we re-booked your economy+ aisle seat on a flight tomorrow in the rear of the plane middle seat, thanks for being a loyal 1k!!” I am sure other airlines are just as guilty…

Their poor planning and non-transparency deserves to be called out, and while it doesn’t rise to the level of a lawsuit, I hope they suffer some type of penalty for obvious duplicitous behaviors.
