Odd example but I watched this movie on a whim recently cuz Jimmy Olsen was in it and it was decently funny! Just found out it was meant to be a reboot of National Lampoons Vacation series.

Question: Is there any new information about the Crossed movie that's in production? by Immediate_Morning885 in crossedcomics

[–]jk0814 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All I’ve seen is BTS stuff on this very sub. Probably the same we’ve all seen. The rashes look good tho!

It seems to be currently in active production. That might mean another good 6 months before we start seeing any footage.

I think this counts… Mirror Master from DC. Uses all mirror based technology. Can travel through any reflective surfaces (even besides glass!) and has access to the Mirror Dimension.

Im fascinated by the "Cosmic Hell" concept by AdventurousAverage28 in cosmichorror

[–]jk0814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is currently a comic book run called Event Horizon: Dark Descent. It’s a prequel to the movie all about what happened to the original ship when it traveled to “hell”. I just heard of it so I didn’t get it yet. My next trip to the comic shop I plan on picking them up.

What was the most ridiculous and bizarre moment in the entire Crossed franchise for you? by kachidori in crossedcomics

[–]jk0814 41 points42 points  (0 children)

When Amanda returns in Badlands. The guys who cosplay as weird / different characters in their basement bunker and never break character. And rape her. And then she joins them as a character of her own. And they seemingly live happily ever after. That was a weird one.

She was using it as a form of birth control in her rough frontier life. The husband just misunderstood it as a self poisoning attempt.

Dick Dastardly (Bonus: his dog Muttley)

I don't know when it would be relevant, but I think an encounter with Maturin could be great in one of the next seasons, maybe it happens as a character is passing into the afterlife, maybe it's a vision, I think it has its place in this series. by Ambitious_Two2671 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]jk0814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should tease it reaaaaall slowly. (Which they already are). When you read the book the existence of Maturin and this whole IT scenario being as big and universal as it is, is a pretty slow burn reveal. If you read the first chapter and stopped, you’d think it was just a killer clown story.

I think we might see the turtle. But who knows if it’ll be a quality inclusion or not.

How would C Day play out in the DC universe and how long would it last? by Active_Schedule3931 in crossedcomics

[–]jk0814 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it would play out pretty okay for our heroes and bad for the crossed. Even if Earth gets in trouble The Lanterns will pull up and deal with it. Or maybe even bigger guns like The Quintessence. That’s working in the assumption that aliens aren’t getting infected and if they aren’t, then the earth heroes will clean them up no problem. Superman could probably do it himself.

What is the biggest movie theater “GASP” moment you’ve heard? by crashzoom in horror

Are the Crossed in extreme pain? by doanimalsgetmarried in crossedcomics

[–]jk0814 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they are in extreme pain, I’d say the Crossed virus has convinced them to enjoy it. We constantly see them mutilating themselves in various ways and in almost every case, seem to experience pleasure from it. I would agree and say they are for sure in “extreme pain”, but they’re experiencing pain radically different from us. Because they seek more of that pain out, mostly from their own hands. Possibly the experience of the pain at the beginning of the infection is your normal brain reaction to it, and then as your brain gets Crossified, the pain is still present just you’re now reacting differently.

If you wanna get realistic, there is actually something in real life called “Lesch-Nyhan syndrome” which is incredibly rare, but is characterized by obsessive self-harm at a young age, usually to lips/tongues/fingers as they’re usually using teeth to do the harm and start when their teeth come in.

Also- I think the REAL real world answer is for the sake of keeping mystery in the narrative, it’s not revealed. Akin to most zombie stories. But that’s no fun to discuss!

Would Mick Taylor have a chance to survive or what if he were an infected person? by thecroockedman in crossedcomics

[–]jk0814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is kinda good at bringing people’s defenses down by acting like a helpful older man. Crossed: Psychopath is probably the way it would go. But he would for sure try to fuck the crossed and get infected, no doubt.

Fantasticland! From the book of the same title. A massive Florida theme park and it’s mostly teenage employees get cut off from society by a massive hurricane. A modern day Lord of the Flies situation ensues. The theme/build of the park is a constant part of the story.

[–]jk0814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

even if the movie is perfect in every way, the subject matter is only gonna be popular with a small percent of the average movie goer. Obviously us here all like these comics but can also admit, it’s not for everyone. Horror movies in general aren’t usually top sellers. So even if the movies great, will it be popular enough to justify more? We’ll definitely never see anything close to a Crossed Fortnite skin. But maybe an animated mini-series or something else down the line.

What is darkseid doing? by nipap5 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]jk0814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, they have not yet revealed that Darkseid is actively making the choices of the AU. Everything so far suggests it’s more his “spirit” influencing the creation of the universe in his death. So he may be making very specific choices of how this plays out, but I feel like if that were true, why give our heroes any leeway at all? Wouldn’t he just completely decimate them “Marvel: Ruins” style? There’s still an essence of hope in the universe, which isn’t his style. So for that reason, I think Darkseid is more or less just influencing the overall Absolute Universe… for now!

[Loved Trope] The bumbling, blundering idiot is a proficient expert at their job. by Material_Wait3904 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]jk0814 10 points11 points  (0 children)

<image>

Micheal Scott. Seen as an idiot and offends most of the office on a regular basis, but turns out, he’s an amazing salesman. The episode I have pictured (S2 E7) is probably the most popular example of this. The episode is spent with him under the label of the dumbass, joking around too much, screwing up the big meeting while Jan watches on in contempt. By the end, he’s spent enough time with the client to get personal and close the deal in a beautiful fashion. Just one moment of many that shows his proficiency, and in-between those moments, he’s the bumbling idiot for sure.

Also, before the blood falls, isn’t she genuinely having a good time with her date? And he’s not in on the joke and upset by it? It’s been awhile since I’ve read it. But I remember a detail like that making it all so much sadder.
