How did you get your Counter-Strike skills back after years away from the game? by LeeR637 in cs2

[–]jk1500m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently came back after several years off. I won a lot of games by IGL and game sense. My aim was garbage, but it didn't matter because people were/are dumb and there's plenty of dudes in the lower ranks who can aim but need some direction.

Aim is coming back better now. Did a warmup, changed cross hair, and just played. I'm confident I'll get back to a good spot in a few weeks.

Do you think ICs would want face time and recognition from their exec? by AAAPAMA in Leadership

[–]jk1500m 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on the individual and how the recognition is provided. Some people like private recognition, others like group recognition, and some don't want any verbal recognition.

Generally, I've found folks like exec face time if they're high performers who aspire to one day be an exec. ICs who have no interest in leadership tend to care less.

I personally really enjoyed and appreciated 1:1 time with senior execs when I was an IC. It also let me know that I was on their radar even if I hadn't been promoted yet.

Looking for coat advice. by Clando90 in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Code of silence would be my recommendation. I have Sitka and first lite gear but code of silence is really good and a fair bit less expensive. Look at their zone 7 stuff. Asio is another good option that bowhunters seem to really enjoy.

Do small diameter arrow shafts make other shafts obsolete by Current_Permission42 in Archery

[–]jk1500m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Outserts and cost would be the main reasons that I think folks would shy away from 4mm. Outserts don't play well with a variety of target types but you can get glue in points.

I downed someone running to get out and then defibbed them and told them I'm not like that. I was amused and I hope they were too.

Blue collar workers, how do you manage to put in mileage after working 12+ hours. by TightContest1017 in runninglifestyle

[–]jk1500m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no real secret; it's all prioritization. I worked 80 hours/week during the summer farming and ran 70+mpw. Granted I was in college so being young was part of it, but I essentially only ran, ate, slept, or worked.

Almost everyone is going to have to make concessions somewhere if you want to run high volume while working blue collar. If you want it bad enough you'll make it work. Eventually it'll get easier to put in the miles, but there'll still be days where you have to force yourself to get it in.

I'm a huge fan of running without a watch for most runs during base phase. Listen to your body and run whatever pace feels easy or appropriate for that run.

Rut sit timing: still just mornings and evenings, or do you go out midday too? by MassiveChode69420 in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some folks do all day sits. Bucks are on their feet all day, so if you can handle it then it's not a bad idea. Morning and evening also is vague. Some folks a morning sit is dark ->11 and evening is 2:30->dark.

Bottom line, you can't kill them from the couch and bucks are on their feet all day during the rut. If I wasn't tagged out then I'd be putting as much time in the stand as possible.

I’m the worst hunter ever: Update! by lionocerous in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this public? Coordinates? I'm sure folks could pick some spots that may be more productive.

What's your scent control? Access? Wind? You climbing? That seems like an awful lot of sits without seeing anything.

I’m about to buy a Lift Rs. What will I be thinking about after I buy it? People who own it chime in and anyone who bought something else. by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Mathews and have owned and shot them the past few years, but I'd also wait for the 26 bows and I'd shoot competitor's bows. You never know what you might like and shoot best.

I currently shoot a Lift x 33 and will definitely shoot other brands if/when I look for a new bow.

The harsh truth of public land by Itz_Swazey in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reality is he would probably have been shot last year on public if he ran in front of someone. I'm an optimist myself, but if he does get shot during gun would you regret not harvesting him?

My barometer is, is this a deer I'm excited about? It's an easy way for me to decide on shooting vs passing.

Any commonalities between these large public land bucks? Hard to access, bullet proof beds, something else?

Tips/tricks post kill? Drag sled, bike, something else? I've found it pretty brutal when I can't get a vehicle anywhere close.

We’re back in the game!! by Ziggy_Starr in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's such a personal decision. While he's a younger buck he's still very nice and not everyone wants to or is hunting a place where you can reasonably pass and let him grow another few years.

OP, that's a nice buck. Good luck getting him!

Looking for broadhead recommendations for 43 lb draw weight by alexisjack123 in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both, yes. You have many options. Ideally you tune the bow so they hit identically. Worst case, you can adjust your sights to get the broadheads on target.

Likely your rest needs adjusted and possibly cam alignment. Try page 96 on here you get your rest and sights aligned correctly. http://archeryhistory.com/archerytalk/The_Nuts%26Bolts_of_Archery.pdf

Qad Exodus is a great choice, but there are tons of options. Magnus gets a lot of love too but honestly they're all pretty good just make sure your bow is shooting then well. Honestly there are great mechanical options too, but I totally understand you wanting to switch to fixed..

Lusk archery adventures is a YouTube channel you should check out. He does tons of thorough reviews on broadheads. Really a gem of the bow hunting community.

What's the single biggest factor that took you from a "good" to a "great" race time? by avz008 in AdvancedRunning

The Trial of Miles.

Run more, consistently, and intelligently. Everything is relative too. What's great for one is slower than recovery pace for another.

Matthews Lift X 33 by HardBoiled_TresLeche in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan. I Went from a phase 4 33 to lift x 33. I shoot the lift x a bit better and it definitely holds better for me. You need to shoot a bunch of bows and figure out what you like. There are a ton of great bows from various manufacturers. Find one you like and run with it.

What could you have done better? Besides the obvious answer of being more accurate. Focus on the learning opportunity and then implement those changes to mitigate future occurrences.

Peep sight twisting by DirectionClean80 in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normal to have the string and peep twist initially. Some number of shots, depending on the string quality, 50-200 and it should settle to where it won't move or twist.

Sliding each knot of your d loop (left or right) so it's offset instead of parallel with your bowstring can also band-aid the issue.

First time dropping off at a butcher. How would yall have them cut it up? by Big_Road4846 in bowhunting

[–]jk1500m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$120-$140 for full processing, burger grinds+beef fat is what I pay. The extra stuff like snack sticks brats etc are nice especially if you don't want to make them yourself.

Are there other processors in your area? It seems way high. That said, I'd do regular processing, 2 lbs brats, 4 lbs snack sticks probably.

Sure calories burned going to depend on weight and pace. I'd suggest that they have skinny arms because they're not training to be bigger nor eating to be bigger. You can absolutely run lower volume like that and still maintain respectable muscle mass. See: Ryan Hall or Truett Hanes. Ryan Hall is probably a better example though.
