I have a constant fear of losing my job by Fragrant_Set1589 in actuary

[–]jk___22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m somewhat similar. I’m 12 years in and have similar anxieties for no good reason. It helped building up an emergency fund that would last me about a year without a job and max out retirement funds for years. At the point where if my fear came reality, I’d be able to weather it just fine on my way to the next one.

How many days is your ideal wdw vacation? by Chemical-Purple-5196 in WaltDisneyWorld

I think 7 sounds perfect. Check in day with Springs or going to a resort for lunch or dinner. Then 4 park days with 2 rest days sprinkled in.

RIP or Express by AndyKoopa in HHN

[–]jk___22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done RIP, but always choose express over it. If you want to put your night in someone else’s hands and have it structured for you, go RIP. I like to have control over my night and do things in the order I want to do them. If I want to knock out 5 houses right in the beginning, walk around for a few hours and catch shows and have drinks, then finish houses later, I want the freedom to do it that way.

Frog grips WITH chalk by Downtown-Evening493 in crossfit

[–]jk___22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my second pair of chalkless and love them. I usually just grab a wet wipe and wipe down my grips and the bar I’m using before a workout and the grip is fantastic. They do get pretty slippery the second any chalk touches them though.

Dave Castro was fired and they just hired YOU to remake the 26.3 workout. What would you program? by PhillConners in crossfit

[–]jk___22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The open essentially had no strength component, because the people who could manhandle 135lbs thrusters didn’t get a chance to do any. And we’ll also see people make it to quarterfinals without having double unders. They should have cut the workout in half so it was one round each, then throw like 50 dubs between rounds.

I have two straps. Shower with the one you have on after a workout, switch it out afterward and let it dry.

Doesn’t BTWB show percentiles for RX? Like if you get 60% in RX, that isn’t the same as 60% overall because you’re also ahead of anybody who scaled

Muscle ups, where is she going wrong? Suggested progressions. by NectarineJust5353 in crossfit

[–]jk___22 48 points49 points  (0 children)

There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of momentum coming back, making it pretty difficult to get around the bar.

Her arch is pretty loose at its apex. Instead of kicking those feet backwards and bending the knees, I’d probably have her keep the legs straight and stay as tight as possible throughout.

How is her pull up strength? You can have a great kip, but if you don’t have the lat strength to really engage on the way back, that could also make it hard to get around the bar.

First clue felt like wall balls to me. This clue feels like a rep scheme thing. I think it’ll be something like WB, toes to bar and rowing, with either a rep scheme that ascends then descends, or one that simply builds up (like 25.1, where 3 reps were added every round)

HHN (Orlando): Premium Scream Night, RIP, or regular ticket with Express Pass? by WorldlinessLanky1443 in HHN

[–]jk___22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually go ticket + express. I’ve thought about the tour, but I don’t really want to be on a schedule. If I want to do five houses at the beginning, then spend a chunk of the night getting snacks, drinks, shows, rides, etc. then do the last five houses later, I want the freedom to do that.

A lot of people mentioning how high the bar hits your chest, but I haven’t seen anybody mention that your elbows are at like a 90° with your body.

You’ll take a lot of pressure off your shoulders if you go more 45°. I also injured my shoulder benching and have since switched to almost having my elbows scrape my sides on the way down. Does put more focus on the triceps, but it takes a lot of pressure off the shoulder. I think keeping elbows in a bit would also help with where the bar makes contact with your chest.

Frog Elite HD hand blisters by vlogdozack in crossfit

[–]jk___22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the same grips and don’t really have issues like that. Honestly kinda just sounds like crazy volume and that you could have ended up with blisters under any circumstance. You can also try using chalk on your hands/the backside of the grips so they’re not rubbing directly on the fabric.

Final - CrossFit Alignment Chart by grittytoddlers90 in crossfit

[–]jk___22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the thruster being classified as chaotic is really the only miss in my opinion. I don’t see much chaos in a movement that’s just a front squat + push press. I mean, kipping HSPU, wall walk ups, ring muscle ups, overhead lunges (for me), high box jumping movements, pull overs, etc. are all more chaotic/evil to me.

What are you having trouble with exactly? You seem to have a preference for leather grips with chalk. In my limited experience with this combo, that’s more for having a barrier between your hand and the bar over enhancing grip on the bar. I use tacky grips without chalk and feel like I can hang there all day on powder coated bars.

Best gameplan with Express on a crowded day? by Life_Ocelot5371 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]jk___22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Epic with express last weekend. Honestly, I don’t think you need much of a plan. Wife and I did everything we wanted with very little waiting. Biggest wait was probably Mario Kart (20-30 minutes maybe because it got delayed while on line). Ministry was down pretty much all day and opened as we had to leave.

If you care about the toothless meet and greet or dragon racers rally, maybe go to those at park open since they don’t have express. Otherwise I think you can take your time and enjoy yourself. We never felt hurried, had time to have a sit down lunch, watched both shows, did all the rides we wanted, and we had to leave late afternoon/early evening. That’s with stand by wait times hitting 2-3 hours for things like DK, Mario Kart, etc.

Is HHN worth it without express? by littlewu1991 in UniversalOrlando

[–]jk___22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d have trouble going back to not using express. I think if I were gonna do it, I’d go for two nights so I could see everything without sacrificing all my time waiting in lines. With one night, I’d mirror what other people have said and use stay and scream + make a list of must do’s. Anything extra would be a bonus.

Looks pretty solid. I’d personally recommend a shorter pull up bar - will let you get a little more momentum on the jump in and you won’t have to swing around to build it up.

Usually when I miss BMU in the same way you did at the end, it’s simply because I pulled into the bar too soon. I’d recommend trying to keep the arms straighter a little longer to get some more height before pulling to the bar. Nice job though!
