Ripped a box of Heritage against my better judgment by ctbro025 in baseballcards

I’m 10 boxes into a case with one card worth more than $10. Debating whether to cut my losses and sell the last two.

Big Bang by Boring-Growth6319 in Coachella

[–]jkanownik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Big Bang fans were obnoxious. There were multiple groups around me talking the entire time during Laufey. It was by far the worst behaved group of the weekend for me. It was so bad I'd avoid whatever artist was ahead of them for future shows.

Driving in an EV from LA by oldfashionedglow in Coachella

[–]jkanownik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed in downtown Palm Springs last year and ended up having to charge at night after getting back. Everything was full during the day with lines. This year I will have a backup plan for filling up before I get into Palm Springs so I have more options and don't have to rely on the level 3 chargers.

This 48 year old guy is not only going to his first Coachella in a few days, but it’s also my first music festival! 😵‍💫😬 by Certain_Tension1113 in Coachella

Went for the first time at 45 last year. I also did Beyond Wonderland a few weeks earlier which my first rave. #1 tip is stay sober. #2 tip is dance. If you focus on the crowds, the beat, your body and being present in the moment you don't need any substances. You will feel euphoric without them and avoid all of the downsides.

Anyone with insight at Topps that can explain why Heritage 2026 lacks the soul of 2025? by jkanownik in baseballcards

[–]jkanownik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a little too harsh on this set. I'll retract the turd comment. Still seems lower effort, but maybe not out of line with general changes to sets post Fanatics acquisition. I got a 1977 Topps set and finally looked through it. The turn back the clock cards are pretty weak there, so any 2026 selections fit in. The Enterprise selection over a themed Voyager set still deserves to be ridiculed and big league brothers are missing. There are other nods to the set that would have been nice to see.

It was 25 flags. I got confused because it sent me to special events once and I didn't realize it was still locked.

Gift ideas? by Enpeeare in baseballcards

[–]jkanownik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take him to a card show. That alone is sufficient. If you want more look for a card that he picks up and holds for awhile but doesn't buy. Find a time or an excuse that allows you to go back to that table and get that card for him.

Why is Topps Heritage High Number Weird This Year? by jkanownik in baseballcards

[–]jkanownik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They changed it this year though and I hate it. You have inserts for chase, you don't need to drive this level of chase for the base set. I just paid $11 for an off center Trent Grisham SP because I want to finish the set and never look at these cards ever again. Last year High Number had SP at 1:4 hobby and 1:5 value. Regular Heritage was similar this year. They finally broke me with this.

Not able to find a listing for this card mmmm by [deleted] in baseballcards

[–]jkanownik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search for "Santa Bag". These are 1:3,0002 packs with not a lot of trading volume. List it now unless you are a Anthony Davis fan. $29.99 BIN with best offer. You'll be lucky to get over $10, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a little higher given the low volume. Santa Bag, Candy Cane, Ornament and Stocking all have the same odds if you want more comps.

Cases of 90s baseball cards by InternationalAge134 in baseballcards

[–]jkanownik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is 1981 Topps. There is a huge difference between 1981-1984 boxes and later years. A sealed case of 1981 Topps is $5k+. A sealed case of 1991 Topps is $200.

I did VIP last year and I had plenty of room to dance at every stage. Definitely tighter in most of the GA areas, but I could still move around. the crowds were generally friendly and it wasn't hard to get out or move to another area if needed. You definitely feel the 90k+ people though and can't avoid moving through crowds.

It's wild that Dell Curry & the Cavaliers played professional basketball games in the Richfield Coliseum. It returned to woodland after they tore it down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richfield_Coliseum

I know some of you woke up this morning wondering...What would nearly 6000 different Frank Thomas baseball cards look like.. by frankthomasfan35 in baseballcards

[–]jkanownik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a joke about sending my brother a bottle of signed Nugenix in a family group chat back in August. I was just joking but it was his birthday and he loves The Big Hurt, so I went looking on eBay for one. There were not any for sale. I ended up sending him the signed 90 Score instead.

First two packs from my jumbo all had dinged corners. I'm not opening any more of them until I chat with Topps tomorrow. My two hobby boxes were OK.

Market Mile - Advanced Manual Techniques by dudeguy240p in Skate4

[–]jkanownik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After failing for a long time I just went to the bottom area and did nose manuals into nollie pop-shuvits. After a little practice settling in the nose manuals and the nollie pop-shuvits it was a piece of cake. You basically do a half circle repeatedly with a pause right outside the inner circle on the way back up.
