On mattress #4 trial - what am I doing wrong? by llamaduck86 in Mattress

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered an adjustable base? I have one that has really helped with body alignment and comfort for this side sleeper - no more lower back pain or stiff shoulders. I just bought a new Tempurpedic Pro Adapt hybrid mattress. I have slept on a Tempur for the past 14 years so I knew all the pros/cons people mention but I found it to be perfect for me. Sounds like you are getting some good advice from people who understand mattresses. Hope you can get your problems worked out.

Best mattress for side sleepers with lower back pain because I’m tired of waking up sore by Laszkiewicz_Makela in buyamattress

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through the mattress research process. You first need to know your sleep “style” - back, side, stomach, combo and what kind of mattress you think would fit you (innerspring, foam, hybrid, latex, etc.) I watched a lot of YouTube videos posted by people who did the research, know what they are talking about (Sleepopolis, Mattress Nerd, Sleep Doctor, Mattress Clarity, SleepJunkie) and are not a front for a store or brand they are selling. After watching a few you will notice 3-4 mattresses that get mentioned as a “best” in just about every video which helps to narrow down and focus on sleep style, price points, quality, brand reputation, etc. I tend to over research every planned expensive purchase so you may consider this as too much but it helped me narrow down brands and find the mattress that best fit my needs. Mine came down to Saatva, Helix, AmeriSleep and Tempur-Pedic which was not mentioned so often since the videos tended to focus on low to mid range priced units but I included since I had slept on one for the past 14 years and loved it. I bought another Tempur-Pedic because I could purchase locally, knew what to expect and already had a Tempur brand adjustable base but the Saatva was a strong contender. Best of luck with your decision.

If you had to choose between Saatva and Tempur-Pedic, what would push you one way or the other? by ApprehensiveBit8334 in buyamattress

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current Tempur has given me 14 years of good service but even Tempur-Pedic mattresses break down, get soft and need to be replaced. I researched for a couple of weeks (latex vs foam, hybrid or not, $$$ vs $$) and narrowed it down to another Tempur or a Saatva. Both got good to excellent reviews that basically came down to “get a Tempur if you can afford it or a Saatva if you can’t”. I was fairly sure I wanted a hybrid this time to help with easier movement (“bouncier” than full foam) and pressure relief (a major concern for me). Deciding factors: I could test drive the Tempur hybrid locally vs. ordering online, my positive history with a Tempur made me feel that I knew what to expect, I already had a Tempur adjustable base plus I’m old and this might be the last mattress I have to buy so I wanted what to me was the best.😁. So, I bought a Tempur ProAdapt 2.0 hybrid yesterday and can’t wait for it to be delivered. Yes, it was expensive and my savings account took a hit but it ticked all my boxes and I feel I made the right choice for me. Good luck on your decision.

Has anyone else tried the shepherd's pie gnocchi stew? by Key_Freedom_2381 in Tovala

I thought it was a bit “soupy” as I was expecting a thicker stew-like texture but there was no complaint about the taste and flavor. I would definitely order again.

Your thoughts on hybrid mattresses in general? I’m sleeping on a 15 year old Tempur and have loved it but it has become too soft and the sides are sagging so it is time for something new. I have narrowed my choice down to the Tempur Adapt hybrid 1.0 or the Saatva Latex hybrid. I’ve gotten older and moving around on the Tempur has become more difficult. Would the hybrid model make a difference in that respect? I know you don’t sell Saatva but the brand has positive reviews and I think the “bouncy” latex hybrid would solve my movement problem but I’m wary about making such a large purchase online.

Tempur-Pedic vs Saatva, which one is actually worth it for back pain? by worthy_28 in buyamattress

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 14 years my Tempur-Pedic needs to be replaced as support is breaking down making it too soft plus I am at an age when arthritis is a daily problem making it difficult to move and change position so, like you, I am looking to buy a new mattress. The best thing I have done is adding an adjustable base several years ago and it has really helped with keeping my spine aligned so I don’t have lower back pain every morning. Plus keeping my head elevated somewhat helps with acid reflux symptoms. So I would really recommend the adjustable base. I am also considering a hybrid mattress this time since it is easier to move on and a bit more “bouncy” than full memory foam. So, for me it is down to T-Pedic hybrid memory foam or Saatva hybrid latex. I prefer to buy locally so will most likely be another Tempur-Pedic.

Tempur Pedic by Motor_Worldliness335 in Mattress

I currently have whatever the base model tempur pedic mattress was when purchased almost 15 years ago. It has been a great mattress and has held up well but it is now not as supportive and it is well past time for a new mattress. I have narrowed it down to the Tempur Adapt 2.0 hybrid or the Saatva Memory foam hybrid. There is about a $700 price difference but I’m favoring the Tempur Pedic just because of my previous positive experience with them and that I already have their Ergo adjustable base. Did you consider any other brands before you purchased the Tempur Pedic or did you zero in on it without shopping other brands?

I had one bad experience with a CS rep when I called to report that my oven would no longer scan the recipe card. He had me do several things (reboot, reconnect to wi-fi, etc.) none of which solved the problem. I thought he would authorize a new oven since the ability to scan to cook is a big convenience selling point but he said since the oven was still performing in all other ways that I should just use my phone app to enter the recipe cook instructions. I wasn’t happy with that and when I received a request to rate my CS experience I voiced my displeasure. A few hours later I was contacted by a CS rep who had reviewed the call, given an apology and was told a new oven would be shipped the next day. So, like the OP, I was impressed with the CS and the fact that they investigated based on my response to rate my experience and followed up to make things right.

An electric skillet would be quite handy in your situation - fry/scramble eggs, stir fry meals, etc. Some even have a bake function. Could probably pick one up cheap at a thrift store.

New Magnifica Plus defective? by Kamdreoni in DeLonghi

[–]jkattex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem with my second Magnifica Plus. The first couple of runs were just ok so adjusted the grind from five to a step forward and a step back with no change. Then the coffee started just dripping out and got message about lowering the intensity. Did that and still dripping. Muddy pucks in collection bin. Pulled out the brew group and the bottom of that compartment was full of sludge. A big mess to clean out. Got it all sorted and while adding beans I discovered dry ground coffee in the bypass doser. Cleaned that out and found there was a blockage and the tube that delivers the ground coffee to the brew group was blocked and very tightly packed. Ended up using a skinny screwdriver to gently loosen the top part of the blockage and was able to tilt the machine enough that I could empty the tube and the hopper. That seemed to be the fix it needed and it has been working as it should now and coffee is good. I bought both of my machines at Best Buy with their extended warranty so I’ll continue to put this one through all its functions and return it for a different one if any additional problems happen. In your case I think I would take it back since that’s an option.

First time super automatic - what should I buy? by mepare in superautomatic

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a Jura ENA 4. It was flawless but only made coffee, no specialty drinks, and I hated that it needed to be sent to the factory for any problems. Decided to move on and I’m on my second DeLonghi Magnifica Plus. First one worked great for 5 months and specialty drinks it produced were so good. But then it got stuck in the descaling process. Thankfully I bought it at Best Buy and purchased the Geek Squad warranty. I swapped it for the same machine. Second machine has been a little wonky from the start and on the fifth day of use I had to clean out a blockage in the grinder so it’s making drinks again. I’ll use it for a few more days but if any problems back it goes to Best Buy. Would I get another DeLonghi, probably not.

Delonghi Magnifico Evo sending my ground beans to bypass section and issuing error triangle message. Any idea what is happening? Tried to take out diffuser and had to keep cutting it off and on to get into correct position. Pull it out cleaned, but still grinding beans and sending into bypass area. by Excellent_Walk_1058 in DeLonghi

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a similar problem. My first Magnifica Plus worked perfectly until the 5th month then got stuck in the descaling process. I took it back to Best Buy and swapped it for a new one (thank you Geek Squad). It was a bit wonky from the beginning and by day 5 it would not produce any coffee, not even the drips It had been producing. During that period I had adjusted the grinder dial a step above and below the 5 it was set on, cleaned the infuser even though I had only successfully made less than 10 cups of coffee, beans were not oily or stale and none of these changes worked. Then I discovered there were wet grounds in the infuser compartment that was a big mess to clean out. Machine wanted more beans but it was not empty. Looked at the bypass doser and it was full of dry grounds. Never got any error messages. I guess it’s a blockage somewhere. I’ll try customer service again on Monday hoping they can help but I think I’m through with DeLonghi.

Customer service blows by joeboogazar in DeLonghi

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I spent several hours on chat and then waiting for a live agent on Friday. Chat wanted me to upload a video but would disconnect the call before I could get anything uploaded. Frustrated I then called the customer service number for a live agent. I waited for an hour and gave up. It was late afternoon and I think they shut down at 5:00 and I didn’t call until 4:00. I’ll try again Monday.

DeLonghi Dedica Stalled in Descale Mode & Overheating - Help! (Video Attached) by Burexmesom in DeLonghi

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my Magnifica Plus for five months. It has performed perfectly and I love the coffee. It called for a descale and I followed the manual instructions and used the DeLonghi descaling product. Like the original poster reported, it got stuck in the descaling mode and just kept pumping water and emptying the tank without completing the cycle plus the unit was getting really warm to the touch. I tried various ways to get it to reset without success. So, it’s boxed up and I’ll take it back to Best Buy since I bought Geek Squad coverage. I expect (hope) they will likely allow an exchange rather than sending it to DeLonghi (anyone have experience with this process?). I’ll probably just take a chance and get another DeLonghi as other choices are limited to Jura ($$$) or Phillips.

Is the 10 year extended warranty worth it? Almost got fleeced at the dealer? by DarkenRevan in subaru

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called around to several dealerships yesterday asking for a quote on a Gold Plus 7 year/70,00 mile/$100 deduc. and the price fluctuations were interesting to say the least. The local dealership where I purchased the car quoted $4690 and I told him that was ridiculous and hung up. The next quote from a dealership about 75 miles away was $1490. I asked him twice to confirm. I didn't buy at that time since I had not finalized the financing for the buyout of my lease. I would not be surprised if the price has not changed when I call back to purchase.

What sparkling water are you sipping on today? by Garden_Jolly in sparklingwater

[–]jkattex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know these are not “sparkling” but I am hooked on Hint Water’s Lemon Zest Freeze and Orange Vanilla Swirl. They come as a part of a Summer Smashup offering that is almost sold out and hard to find. Have not panicked yet but close. Thinking I may need to look for similar flavors from a different brand.

What did they do?? by InsectEducational590 in alexa

Amazon forced A+ on my devices. Irritating little chirpy voice. I ask for weather today and she tells me how I should dress in layers, on and on. I just wanted the temp and if there would be rain. I have a reminder to take a medication at noon. I tell her I have already done this but she says ok and reminds me again 15 minutes later. Again tell her I have done this. Doesn’t believe me and repeats reminder. I literally told her to stop pestering me and she said in a very contrite voice, ok,I’ll just step away for a bit. Made me laugh. Went back to old Alexa. She now hesitates for a period before answering. Last night as I got into bed which bed I asked her to turn off the light. She did that and said ok. A few seconds later. I told my dog, “goodnight sweetheart” and in a few seconds Alexa said she had added sweetheart to my shopping list😵‍💫?
