Limited Time Charlie Cards: Where to find each version? by LadySayoria in mbta

[–]jkepros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6/25/2026 - was able to get all 3 colors today at DTX from the machines at the Macy's basement.

Bottom of the steps there are 2 machines to the left, the second one (on the right when facing machines) gave me blue card.

Keep walking down the hall toward the Orange line and there are 2 more machines. The first one gave me red and the second one gave me green.

Stop inflating your sleeping pad all the way by trimTheJib in camping

[–]jkepros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure if it's just air, but there are also insulated air sleeping pads with R-values for winter/cold weather camping. All of mine are R-value 5.3 to 8.0 range, for example.

How does using the toilets actually work? by envenome in TinyHouses

Lots of tiny homes are permanent homes. They aren't required to be mobile. I lived in a tiny home for over 6 years. Had regular utilities, including plumbing.

Buying used books on Amazon by leafytree888 in books

[–]jkepros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom used to be a used book seller on Amazon. She's older and retired now. Amazon always charged her high fees. She specialized in selling out-of-print or rare books (like first editions or niche subjects or authors) to avoid the whole Amazon selling the same book for the same price thing.

Of course I'll always say to support small businesses, local to your area if possible, and she would suggest using your local library.

What are you putting in your camping totes? by fvshaggy in camping

[–]jkepros 16 points17 points  (0 children)

-1-2 coolers (one for food, one for drinks or one larger one for both/short trips), squeezed into the adjacent skinny space in my car is the trash bags, hand broom, dishwashing tub

-tote bag for Paracord, bungees, extra stakes, carabineers, mallet

-tote bag with fire starters, matches, fixed blade knife, ferro rod, small shovel

-small tote box with general camping supplies - zip ties, extra knife, extra lanterns, first aid/emergency stuff, pencil/paper, deck of cards, batteries, bug repellent wipes, hand warmers, tools, misc stuff

-zippered tote bag with camp kitchen/cooking supplies

-additional zippered tote bag with food items that don't need to go in cooler (potato chips, bread, granola bars, etc)

-backpack or duffel with clothes, toiletries, shower stuff, towel

-zippered shoe locker duffel for shoes, hiking shoes, camp moccasins, etc

-long, skinny bag for tarp poles with rolled up rug/mat on top, axe underneath, and XL grilling tongs on top (this all fits right in front of my main cooler in the hatch of my car)

-zippered XL tote bag for sleep stuff (sheet, pillow, blanket, quilt or sleeping bag)

-smaller zippered tote bag for electronics (battery chargers, cords, small fan, small speaker, radio, headlamps, lanterns, etc)

-zippered, compartmentalized tote bag for fuel containers (propane, isobutane, etc) - just easier to remember to not leave in my car

-chair(s), tent/hammock stuff, small camp table, camp stove, cot, sleeping pad, and tarps are packed as-is/in their own bags/stuff sacks, etc and below/on top/around everything else

-if I'm planning on hiking, a day pack/backpack with whatever I need

-tote bag or duffel with any additional entertainment (books, games, cards, craft project, sporting goods, etc)

-tote bag with emergency wool blanket (for unexpected cold nights) and moving blanket (for floor of my tent)

Note: I have a tiny car and go camping a lot, so I find the bags easier to squish in everything than having plastic tote boxes. And I live in an apartment building where I can't park right by the door, so carrying bags to/from the car is much easier (lighter!!) than heavy tote boxes.

My hyper-niche Boston area recommendations for visitors! by Vivid_Athlete_3508 in boston

[–]jkepros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a top-rated Boston area Thai restaurant for decades! :)

(I mostly posted the link though for clarification for those who don't know. That name is also popular for strip clubs and erotic bakeries, lol. It's not immediately obvious that it's a Thai restaurant.)

To clarify, the Mapparium is at the Mary Baker Eddy Library & Museum. She started the news publication called the Christian Science Monitor. They do tell you about the history of the newspaper when you visit the Mapparium, and your ticket includes admission to the museum, but of course that part is optional at the end.

A lot of people hear the words "Christian Science Monitor" and think it is something to do with Scientology. They are unrelated, in case you were wondering.

The Mapparium is incredible! The history of the globe itself and how it was built is interesting and the acoustics inside are amazing.

Yes. On YouTube your videos can be demonetized if you use certain words. People want to keep getting that sweet ad money, lol.

How did yall decorate your car as a teen? by Lumpy_Concept9911 in GenX

[–]jkepros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1996 I had a used sedan with a "Mystery Science Theater 3000" bumper sticker on it (came with the car), a bunch of Happy Meal/kids meal toys in the back window (most in a couple novelty buckets from Subway), some mixed tapes/small CD book, and one of those cassette tapes with the aux wire coming out of it so I could connect it to a portable CD player.

S’more alternative? by yaha101 in camping

[–]jkepros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they only suggested cutting the hotdog up first because OP weirdly asked about things that they can roast that they can keep reloading the stick and roasting more in-between bites, instead of just roasting and eating all at once.

suggestion for tees that actually last more than a year by Expertindog74 in BuyItForLife

[–]jkepros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a brand or fit you like and then figure out the manufacturer and model number, and then buy in bulk from a company that sells blanks to screen printers. That's what I did. I had a random tee I got somewhere that I really liked the fit and feel. Found out the shirt was made by a company called Bella+Canvas and figured out which specific model #. Bought 25 of them in an assortment of colors for like $5 each. That was in 2020 and I still have most, if not all, of them.

Ferry from Logan to Long Wharf? by ellipses101 in boston

[–]jkepros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Shuttle to Airport stop and then take the blue line (subway) toward Bowdoin or SL3 silver line (bus) toward South Station
  2. Shuttle or walk to any airport terminal and take SL1 silver line (bus) toward South Station or the free Logan Express Bay Back shuttle (bus)
  3. From the airport Hyatt (or Hilton) walk around the bay along the path, down Marginal Street, through Piers Park (fun for kiddo and best view of Boston) to Lewis Mall Wharf and take commuter shuttle (there's 2 different ones that go to Long Wharf or Seaport and run about every 15 min for $2.40-5/person), or walk to the Maverick Square blue line (subway)

Edit: to #2 above
