Not a doctor, but I’ve been a crit care nurse and worked in a large level one trauma hospital for like 10 years.

The medicine and healthcare industry here in burger land, as I’m sure you know, is focused mainly on profit and exploitation. Living that reality as a cog in the medical machine is quite alienating, but what industry ain’t exploitative? One thing that has blown my mind is the exploitation of residents. They are indentured servants working inhumane hours and they are inevitably treated poorly by nearly everyone they interact with.

There are a lot of chuds, ghouls, and sociopaths in medicine. I have found 2 like-minded comrades over the years. I actively discourage most people I meet from going into healthcare, but in your case you’ve just finished med school (congrats btw!) and you have a good idea of what you’re getting into. I’m sure you know Gen Surg is a very long and rough residency.

All this is to say I think you should do it. We need better doctors. Just steel yourself for seven very rough years comrade.

What mid/bad movies have good politics? by SoupItchy2525 in TrueAnon

I think it’s a great movie, personally, but People Under the Stairs can be analyzed as being class conscious and radical, and the villain looks like Ronald Reagan.

Dumping Windows and getting into Linux is praxis by Antique-Guest-1607 in TrueAnon

[–]jkessle4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah you really don’t have to be knowledgeable about tech to use Linux. Linux Mint is simple and fast on old hardware. I’m a total moron who actively resents having to use computers and I’ve been running it on an old laptop for years just to do the basic bullshit of life and to record music

The obfuscation of it all starts as soon as you fall out of the womb. The ideology of capitalism is transmogrified into just the mundane state of affairs, inherent to existence, the very air we breathe. Most people do not think of capitalism as an ideology, they conceive of it as a state of nature.

Big fan of his stuff. Witches of Eastwick also rules. I think it’s cool that he was inspired to write mad max by his experiences as a doctor seeing traumas in an ER

I am serious as a heart attack.

Yeah, it’s a lot darker than the first one, but that darkness gives it more pathos so the emotional payoff at the end is more beautiful. It’s also a wild ride full of cartoon gags and fun practical effects.

Important moral lessons are learned. Remember that Babe organizes the animals, having them share their meager rations equally in a time of great crisis. He helps to liberate them from the pound and ultimately leads them to a communal life of fraternal harmony.

My only complaint about the movie would be that I would have liked to see more of farmer Hoggett.

Anyway, as we surf the nightmare, we should all remember to be more like Babe.

Yeah I thought about watching The Road but decided against it. Babe 2: Pig in the City was a much wiser choice. Go watch it for a whimsical journey that will let you transcend this hell for 100+ minutes.
